2-1/2 weeks ago, I started this downsizing project to prepare for an eventual move to a one-bedroom apartment across town in a senior housing complex. Don't know when that move will happen but I'm hopeful it's before Christmas. But, maybe not. One day at a time. Today I finished downsizing the house! That's a big deal because I've been putting this job off for years because I felt it was more work than I could manage.
Tomorrow I just might kick back and rest. Or not. We'll see how I feel. Everything is in the garage and as soon as I get my nerve up, I'll place an ad for a yard and garage sale. Am leaning towards Aug. 3 and 4. I don't like going to yard sales where nothing is marked but alas, I'm too worn out to mark all the stuff I've opted to sell. Or give away. Lots of giveaways out there. I'll explain to everybody who stops to browse that making an offer is the game of the day.
I've put so much stuff up for removal that I stopped to evaluate what would need to go to a storage unit and decided there just wasn't enough stuff left to warrant paying $55 a month for a unit. Thankfully, Jen is going to let me store a few things at her house. Either in her shed or a corner of one bedroom. That will help so much.
I contacted a friend today who lives at Highland and she's invited me over to look at her apartment so I can decide again if I'll have enough space for what I want to store in the apartment. I also cancelled my place on the waiting list for a storage unit. Just in time it seems as two became available today and he was going to give me a ring.
Jen thinks she can set me up with a couple of tables using sawhorses and Joyce Lee and Mary Gaboury are coming to help on sale day so everything is falling in place. Will be ever so happy once the sale is behind me and the leftovers are donated to the thrift shop.
I think that hall closet with all its kitchen junk and the kitchen cabinets and drawers full of more junk gave the the most satisfaction afterwards as I saw everything down to just what I need and nothing more. Think I'll call the newspaper and find out what the cheapest ad might run me if I decide to do that. Last time I placed an ad, it seemed way too high. Well, nuts! Nobody answering the phone down there. Bankers hours I guess. Sent an email instead. Just got an answer back and you can bet I won't be placing a newspaper ad. $29.20! Good Lord! And why not just say $29? Irritating. I'll advertise on the Clallam County Free website.
Out of curiosity, I looked up what was going on in my life through the years on this date. Most of it was boring as hell but in 2007 I started this blog and in 2005 I applied for Social Security. Well, I just did some research as I didn't think I'd been posting on this blog since 2007. Actually I started it in January of 2016. The 2007 one must have been This Side of the Road.
Time to go sit and put my feet up.
