Just sitting here waiting for dinner to arrive and realized I haven't blogged for almost a week. I spent most of today finishing up this very pretty runner. I had been given this material for my birthday and wanted to use all four colors in a project. Everything was going along fine UNTIL I began putting the border around and my material would not lie flat. I tried everything. And I had been patient with this project making sure I cut slowly and correctly, that I basted, pinned, matched, and used my walking foot when necessary. I took time with the batting and backing too. I can't figure out why it was all coming together until I got to this one step and then it just went to hell! I'm still gifting it, however. I spent too much time on it and I'll make sure I give it to someone who can forgive my less than perfect sewing skills.
Dinner arrived. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes w/gravy, corn, carrot salad, and a brownie with vanilla ice cream. More later....
We have a few residents here who are dealing with memory issues from time to time. I still haven't met most of the folks here. Of course, covid has a lot to do with that, plus the fact many just keep to themselves. And that includes me. I keep busy in my own apartment. The last week or so has been devoted to sewing and making cards. Gonna start a jigsaw puzzle tomorrow while I watch golf.
I ran my errands early this morning. Went to the post office to mail a small package. Sure wish they'd get a substation in this town. The Mail store which is closer to me and easier to access just charges too much. My folder/envelope was close to $7 at their place and $4.90 at the post office.
My nighttime tv viewing has been pretty much limited to Sundance and Showtime via my Roku. Amazon Prime had a good deal during their two-day prime promotion and I got both channels for .99 a month. That's for two months and then the price goes back to the usual fee. I often order a special channel just long enough to catch up on the shows I'm interested in. Sundance has given me Wisting (Norwegion murder mystery with Englist subtitles) and The Bureau. Also in a foreign languaage but bother are excellent.
I finally decided to bite the bullet and make an appt to get a colonoscopy. I was supposed to get one in Feb (that would have been ten years) but I'm having way too many issues that I'm tired of working my days around so I might as well get this over with and see if I can't get some answers to why I always feel like shit. No pun intended. haha
When I came back from my errands today, I saw two women in the activity room and both were teary. They told me a resident had died at the hospital and she was a very popular resident. Later, one of the women came up to tell me they were having a little memorial get together for the lady at 1 pm. I said okay. Ten minutes later, the other woman knocks on my door and says the woman in the hospital was not dead afterall. Seems the neighbor she left her dog with (who has dementia coming on I suspect) woke up and found the dog in her apt and didn't remember why. She went next door and knocked on the womens door and no one answered so she assumed she had been given the dog to care for because the woman died. It's funny yet not. God, please don't let me get Alzheimers.
A new resident moved in last week. She has this statue sitting outside her door.
And here's a picture I saw on Facebook that I thought was kind of cool. A hidden litter box for your kitty. Here's a shot my half sister posted on her Facebook page of herself. She's a nurse living in N.C.
