4th of July weekend

I don't really have any plans for the 4th although Mary Gaboury and I are talking about going on a picnic somewhere.  Not sure where. I was thinking Fort Flagler out on Marrowstone so I could drop my brother, Les' birthday gift off but he's not sure he's going to be in town that day.  Where else can we go?  Chetzemoka, North Beach, Fort Worden?  I'll have to think on it.  It might be fun just to park downtown, eat sandwiches and snacks in my car and watch people. We did want to go to the Plaza at 5:30 to look at all the Raker's Car Club cars that are scheduled to be parked there and then driven around town. At least I think they're driving. Always love to see the  old cars, and it will be a good photo op.

I've got two doctor appts next week on the 5th and 6th. Hoping like hell I can get an ortho guy to give me a shot for my damn hip!  Damn body just continues to give me grief. The hip pain is probably bursitis but it could be sciatica. I'm sick of it at any rate and it's making me very depressed.  If I don't get any help from either doctor (or if I'm just directed to physical therapy) I may just visit the new pot store in town and see what I can find there.  Neuropathy problems seem to be increasing. Last night my toes bothered me so much I had to get up and put Vicks on them and wear socks. Most of the time, I can just heat up my rice pack in the microwave and that's good enough to help me drop off to sleep. Other times, the neuropathy is flaring. I also had some restless leg syndrome going on last night. It happens infrequently and I'm never sure what brings it on. Did cause me to toss and turn way past midnight and of course, that means I'm yawning my fool head off this afternoon. I assume a pinched nerve is part of the problem since my left hand fingers are continually feeling tingling and numb too.  I don't know if anything can be done for numbness. I do know I don't want to walk down the surgery road.

I did manage to finish up a small lap quilt that I had put the batting and backing on earlier  so at least I accomplished something.  I've got two more all pinned and ready to work on tomorrow and Sunday.  I did a little rearranging earlier here in the front room and even managed to hem a pair of pajamas for the guy across the hall.

Mary and at least one of her friends tested positive for covid after her Vegas trip and now Jake has it too. The other friends are still negative and Andy is negative. Weird. She's feeling better today but Jake is pretty miserable. And he's had two shots! Andy took Jake to an archery place while Mary was gone and apparently, he absolutely loved it.  He's so cute!

I set up a jigsaw puzzle; did the border, and decided I hated the colors and pieces. Put it away and got out another. Did the same thing. Finished the border and put it away. Now I've got puzzle #3 set up and I think I'll stick with this one. I only work 500 pieces because I don't have the patience for 1000 pieces.

I had golf on all day although I mostly just listened to it. Later tonight I'll tune in The Old Man on FX on Hulu with Jeff Bridges.

My brother, Dana, and his wife, Lill, continue to work on downsizing so they can move into their new apartment at Avamere next door. Should be sometime this month.  Well, I guess I'll walk downstairs and see if I got any junk mail. Need to put my rent envelope in the box too.
