Anyhow, my other iron just plain quit heating up. It's a Kenmore and I paid a little bit more money for it (not that many years ago) so I was agitated that it wasn't heating. I finally set it out in the garage and went to Serenity House to buy a second. I cleaned the S.H. iron with baking soda and again with water and vinegar. Used q-tips to clean out the holes and while it's working, I can't understand why it continues to get gucky. If you know what I mean. I did switch to distilled water. On a whim, I went out to the garage and brought back my Kenmore iron that had been banished. I cleaned it up (again) and decided to plug it in and run it with steam on the high setting to see what happened. Now, it's heating up just fine. I don't get it. I will keep both irons handy for now and see what develops.
You really need a good iron when you're working on sewing projects. Yesterday I sewed together 20 strips to start another strip quilt.
It's pretty but will require borders like the red, white, and blue one to be a better blanket size. I'm thinking I might cut this one into squares and make window sash borders. Saw it on YouTube although they demonstrated it a little differently. I think I can make it work. Pulled out my applique books and am eager to get started on another block or two playing around with that system.
It's frosty and cold outside right now but the sun is trying to shine and I know it's gonna get nicer. I intend to take my two walking sticks down to the beachfront and see if I can't get some walking time in. Will also wear my camera.
My upper leg "thingie" as I've decided to call it continues to ache but if it's a bruise, there's next to nothing to be done about it. Except complain and I've got that down to a fine art. I suspect it's one reason I'm so darn tired all day long. Ongoing pain can wear you down.
Woke up from another goofy dream. In this one, I had lost my wallet. It was the red wallet I use today and I was backtracking through this department store where I felt I had left it. I've been to this particular store before in my dreams. It's an odd shaped building in a downtown area and the hallways weave this way and that with narrow stairs. Each department has few items for sale but it is definitely a higher end type store. I ran into Patricia Willestoft as I climbed one set of stairs to go up to the ladies dept. I never did find the damn wallet! Figured it was stolen and I remembered I had $80 in it.
I stayed up until almost 11 last night as I binge watched the rest of season 5 of Homeland. Man, was it ever good! I see Showtime has a few other selections that look interesting too. I think I'll look them over this evening. One show called Billions stars Damien Lewis and Paul Giamatti, both of whom I like.
Been listening to 'The Brethren' by John Grisham on audiotape and his books are usually pretty good right from the start. This one kind of reminds me of Trump running for president. I'm fairly certain that jackass won't win but if he does, things are going to be absolutely horrid for this country. I continue to turn the channel the minute he gets his airtime. Sadly, it's become a daily ritual as the media eats up that garbage.
Guess I'll mosey on back to the sewing room now and wait for the outside temperature to go up a bit.
Here's three shots I took a few minutes ago of one of the hummingbirds coming in for breakfast.
Noticed in the backyard flower beds and in the front that flowers are already shooting up. Interesting.
