Monday Morning Shopping

Just got back from Safeway.  Seemed awfully busy for a Monday morning but then it is the only grocery store in town except for another SW on the east side of town.  My pantry and fridge were looking pretty empty but I managed to stick to my "list" and got nothing else.  Have a few new recipes I want to try so I only got what I needed to make them.  Only splurge was a box of vegetable crackers.

It's getting more expensive all the time to buy meat.  More expensive to buy everything really.  I settled on a big package of boneless chicken thighs that I can repackage into several meals. Same with link sausages. Got one package of ground turkey and one package of hot dogs.  Probably not the healthiest choices but it was within my budget. I saw a sealed package of wild salmon for $89!  And it didn't look that big at all.  My God!  Who can afford that?!  Not me.

Stocked up on fresh vegetables.  When I went through checkout, the clerk asked me if my stuff was organic because I had used all green bags.  I told him none of it was organic and didn't realize using the green bags was something special.  Wonder how many people aren't asked and get charged the organic prices.  I'll be more watchful next time.  Had two guys ahead of me at checkout and both gave me their Monopoly tickets so I had quite a pile to bring home.  I'm not playing the game either so I give mine to Jenni.

Went out to the back yard and pulled a few weeds in the raised beds and decided to move all my birdhouse stakes to the side of the yard lined up along the fence.  Don't intend to fill the birdhouses, though.  In fact, I think I'll clean them up and see if I can sell them. Would love to feed the birds but am tired of the pigeons and blue jays hogging all the seed.  They can clean you out overnight and seed has gotten too expensive to put up with that. I'll hang cute yard things from the stakes instead.
Chimes or sparkly sun catchers.  Or maybe I'll sell the stakes too.  I am trying to declutter around here.

Which was the subject of my latest Town Kid Blog that I posted on the Leader website today.  Well, I gotta hustle.  Am taking the kids' other gramma to the bus station and will be keeping her dog all week. Her son died unexpectedly in eastern Washington. He was only 49.  So sad. She's been having one horrible year so far.

My shoulder continues to ache so I think I'm gonna lay low the rest of the day.  I wish I could get some relief but I don't know what I can do. X-rays show nothing.  Sigh.....
