Talked to my daughter, Mary, on the phone this morning as she drove to work and she's encouraging me to try to get off all bread and sugars for just one week to see if I feel better. And by golly, I'm going to do it! I've got about 5 slices of bread left in the house and my plan is to not replace it. She's lost 25 pounds by cutting out carbs and she says she can really feel a difference in her overall strength and well being. She's also discovered that her taste buds are changing. She put a little coffee creamer in her coffee this morning (she loves her coffee creamer) and much to her surprise, she didn't like the taste. My oh my.
I went off coffee for a few days to see if I'd feel better. I didn't so I'm sitting here with my morning cup right now. Course they say (at least this week) that coffee is good for you. I did make up a batch of banana cookies yesterday as I wanted something to give the neighbor for the crab they've been giving me. At least that was the excuse I used. I need to give the rest of those cookies away before I eat them. Sure was nice to fix up some bowls of salad ahead and throw crab in each of them. What a treat.
My step-sister, Shannon, called me yesterday. She lives in Sumner and just retired from teaching. She said she's going on a road trip with three other women to the midwest for a convention for the womans group she belongs to and they intend to stop at several spots along the way. One stop being Missouri Star Quilting Co. She told me to go online and find something I want for my birthday and she'll pick it up. I didn't waste any time doing that, let me tell you. Picked out some pre-cut squares in a packet called Downton Abbey.
As soon as I finish up my genealogy project, I intend to move to the back of the house and settle in to the sewing room. I may go there today, too, just to get started on those curtain panels I want to make. Mary had given me two large duvet covers that she thought I might be able to use as quilt backs but I wasn't sure. They will work for curtains, however.
I've been watching this Netflix series called Marcella (prounounced Mar-chella) and while I lose some of the conversations at times because of the English accents, I am finding it rather entertaining and I can't wait to find out who the serial killer is. I find myself jumping from one show to another quickly as my interest isn't sparked. Some of the movies put up for our selection are just plain garbage. Rotten acting, rotten themes, rotten language, and you wouldn't believe how often I switch something off if they want to entertain me with how they can screw each other. Enough already!
Found half a dozen little red pills in the bathroom that I knew were some kind of allergy pill but I wasn't sure what so I had to google the long words on the back of the push out foil. I had mistakenly bought antihistamines three different times when what I thought I was getting was decongestants. I need to pay closer attention. Anyhow, these red pills were related to Sudafed and I believe that's what I wanted to try out to see if I could clear the nasal congestion and maybe even the bronchial crap making me short of breath. Maybe I'll plug in the humidifier again tonight as I'd really like to get back in the game.
Sure is looking nice out today. I went out early to fill the bird baths and water the trees and flowers. Lawn needs cutting again but I guess I'll wait until Hunter returns from Lake Cushman. They take off this Friday and will come back on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the 20th, they'll both head to the DMV to get their driver's license.
Last week I took this homemade weedkiller mixture of vinegar, salt, and dishwasher soap and tried it out on the horsetail weed that is taking over my front curbside area. I noticed the little patch I squirted has died so I think I'm going to make up some more and put it into this pump weedkiller thingie I have as the bottle spray wasn't working that well. Maybe I'll do that today.
Jenni sent me a picture of her outside shed that she painted up and is decorating. She's looking for a horseshoe to put on it next.
Noticed some hummingbirds flying around in the backyard this morning so I grabbed my camera. Intend to put them on Facebook but will post here first. I do love hummingbirds.
Noticed some kind of sticker limb poking its way through my back fence when I was out watering this morning. Kind of looked like wild blackberries. Think I'll find my cutters and see about taking it out. And now I'm off to the social security page to see if I can get on. Had problems yesterday and I want to see what's what on there.
