I thought for sure that cortisone shot I got on Monday was going to do the trick but ...not quite. I think I started to feel somewhat better but yesterday was pure hell. Pain in the same shoulder only triple what I had been dealing with. I just didn't understand why. Have since Googled various topics about pain management in hot weather and apparently, the heat can cause major havoc. Somehow I thought that heat would heal and that cold would make things worse. Apparently not. Ice applications do seem to be suggested, though.
I was in such bad shape, I had to hunt for my arm sling that I used after shoulder replacement. I lathered on a gob of pain cream last night at midnight but promptly got up to wash it off again as my body felt like it was on fire. Won't do that again! I took some ibuprofen and laid down praying that tomorrow would be better.
It kind of feels cooler in here right now (it's 7 pm) so I'm hoping that means this heat spell has played out. I've been having difficulties with the entire body one way or another. My toes were kind of numb off and on and my feet started to cramp up. Then the calves and then -- mother of God NO!-- the upper back thigh. Those are killers! I stood up and tried to massage it the best I could and ran to the fridge to eat a spoon of mustard. So pathetic! From what I've read, I think I'm going to make it a daily habit now to drink a glass of water each morning with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Suppose to help calcium deposits that can cause cramping. If it isn't one thing, it's another! I've also noticed my skin feels itchy as well as my scalp. Must be the dry hot weather trying to turn me into a prune.
I did manage to get a little sewing done this morning before that side of the house warmed up. I'm continuing to work on various quilt panels. Some of the directions are so hard to understand, though, that I've opted to make them "my way" just so I can get through them and on to the next one.
Like this one.. It called for a completely different looking tree and a two story building but I had my own ideas.
Last night I went to bed at 7 and actually fell asleep. Woke up off and on during the night but once it cooled off, I slept until 7 the next morning. Heat is hard on old people.
Mary sent me a picture of Jake who had been given a garbage truck by their neighborhood garbage men. He does love to see them coming.
Made a quick run down to the historical society's annual yard sale today but it was too hot to really stay and dig around in the many rooms they had full of stuff. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow when things are half price. I did buy a frame for a dollar and some thread and material in colors I needed.
Well, I'm getting tired so guess I'll wrap this up.
