Busy Weekend

Posted most of these pics on Facebook already but posting on my blog too gives me a better way to keep them where I can get my hands on them.

Mary Gaboury arrived on Wednesday so we had the day to catch up before her and Dave drive back to Yuma for the winter.

We went out for breakfast Thursday morning and she headed back to PT to help her nephew run a garage sale.
I took a picture of a freighter out in the bay and then zoomed in on it for a  2nd shot.

Andy, Jake, Mary, and Catie arrived Friday night. They unloaded the truck, visited a while, and then took off to spend the night at the Red Lion downtown. Catie slept here.
Catie and Jake on Friday night
Saturday morning the work party began.  Catie swept out my garage and helped with other odds and ends as well as kept an eye on the two-year-old (who thought we really needed his help with everything)  I got a grab bar installed in the garage making it easier to climb the steps. Got help moving things to high shelves in the garage and then got the driveway power washed.  Also got the deck power washed. Mary and Andy were disgusted with how the deck flooring seemed to be wearing away.  They suspect inferior quality flooring was used.

Hunter cut my lawns and weedeated and then we spread lime and grass seed.  Andy dug out an area by my back gate to help it swing better. It still needs some work done on it, though,as the posts are leaning. Again, they didn't use good hardware on it.  They decided to hire a guy to come and get the moss of the roof and clean the gutters. Mary ordered a new Venetian blind for one of my living room windows and then she tackled my shower.  She had some special glass cleaner given to her by a professional and I couldn't believe how brand new that door looked afterwards.  So pretty I even hesitated to let Catie use it this morning. Ha!  Mary and Catie also cleaned the area around my sliding glass door and my stove top.  When I saw how good it could look with elbow grease, I realized that I was "settling in" with my own so-so cleaning jobs around here.  I'm blaming it on age.

Andy & Hunter spent some time trying to figure out why some of the smoke alarms continued to buzz after having batteries installed. I think we finally got it. Something with the wiring, I believe. Hunter cut and nailed down new carpeting for my two garage steps and again, what a pig sty I was living in!  I can't get over how nicer everything looks around here.  We picked up Wendy's for lunch but I doubt I'll go there again.  Just wasn't impressed.  Saturday night Mary made two large chicken pot pies.  Jenni had made up some roasted almonds to snack on and these other cute little tidbits where she took a pretzel, put on a rolo, heated for just a bit in the oven and then put an almond on top and squished it down just a tad.  Delicious!

They didn't last long and neither did the cupcakes Mary brought.
The "to-do" list sure got worked over.
At one point Jake wanted to have his turn taking pictures.  Cracked me up as he pointed in my general area and said SAY CHEESE!  This is what we got...

Saturday night we were all sitting around after supper and I looked around the room and realized I was the only one (besides Jake) who wasn't looking at a phone!

Wayne came over for a little bit and helped Hunter get the computer desk out of my old room and onto Andy's truck so we could take it to a neighbor's house.  Poor Hunter hurt his back in the process and I feel bad about that.
Other pics I took during the day.....

He pretty much explored every nook and corner of my house and yard

Jenni made him a "highway" on the carpet with blue tape
Hunter wouldn't allow any thing in his truck bed that might scratch it

Maddie and her boyfriend, Shawn, stopped in on their way to homecoming

This morning Mary and Andy arrived to load back up the truck and take Catie and Jenni over to Traylor's for breakfast. (and to give Maddie a big tip since she'll be their waitress.)

Only needed to repair 3 little knickknacks with the glue gun this morning.
I wrote this on the garage wall to let me know where to stop the car when I pull in. We rearranged everything and now I'm on the left side.

Catie showed me various things I needed to know about using my phone and a couple things on the computer.  I accidentally dialed five people yesterday while carrying my phone in my pocket. Normally, I never have it on me.

Mary bought me a Seahawk shirt and I'll be wearing it today during the afternoon game.
Other things I got included these handmade earrings from Catie... (picture doesn't do them justice)

A new hummingbird feeder from Jenni (that bees can't get into)

Mary got me a couple books of stamps, a Safeway gift card, a t-shirt, and this cool 'paint by sticker' book.  Instead of paints, you use actual stickers.  (looks hard too!)

One of my favorite cards this year was a pop-up from Linda Pedersen. I decided it was too cute to put away so I taped it to my tv in here.  Jake, of course, thought it was too cute not to remove and bring to the living room so it was put up until he left.
And last but not least, here's the card Mary and Andy decided I needed...
And here's me and Mary taking a break from Saturday chores
