I sure have gotten behind in my blog posts lately. Partly because I've been too lazy and didn't have much going on; partly because I managed to pick up a not-so-nice cold. Had a sore throat for a couple days but kept telling myself it was just post nasal drip and it would pass. Nope. The cough came on with a vengeance and I pretty much stayed in bed for two days. My ribs hurt like a son of gun as the cough hung on and I tried to clear my chest. I'm still not 100% but I'll give myself an 85. Did convince me to not put off getting that dang flu shot this year. I haven't actually had a cough or cold for a long time so I guess it was my turn. I figure the cough will be gone in a few days or so.
My body certainly has been taking me on a roller coaster ride these past few years. Always something new to Google. ha ha For a few weeks I had neuropathy in my toes. Worried that it was diabetes but nope, not yet anyway. Course old age is ALWAYS listed as a possible cause no matter what you're ailing from. Whatever was the problem it finally went away. Which I thought was odd but I'm not complaining. I have been suffering from foot, toe, ankle, low leg cramps, though. And my feet have been itching to beat the band. No, I don't have athlete's foot, bed bugs, or cooties. Again, Google mentioned the age factor. Also said soap allergy, renal failure, and other "things" that could be dangerous and you should consult your doctor.
Hate it when they do that. I did go in to have it checked out but I didn't learn any more than I did online. I've been experimenting with various ideas of my own and I "think" I may have helped some of the issues. We'll see.. Anyhow, I started putting good ole Vicks on my feet when I went to bed and wore socks. I believe it made a difference. I also took the memory foam mattress off my bed and reverted back to my firm mattress. (I've been going back and forth with this whole technique for years trying to establish if I'm sleeping better) Again, I "think" it has made a difference in not getting those foot cramps as I roll over during the night. I also think my low back is better upon arising. I'm documenting to see if I'm on to something or just full of hot air. Ha!
Mary Gaboury came to visit yesterday as she had to have her car serviced. We ordered pizza for supper and watched tv before hitting the sack. Got a lot of visiting in too.
This morning she treated me to breakfast and then she drove back to Port Townsend to help her nephew throw a big garage sale this weekend. You should hit it. Mary prices stuff super cheap just to get rid of it. Up around 9th street area.
I noticed a fog bank across the bay when I was driving home after breakfast so I stopped to take a couple of pictures.
A lot of my photos are repeats of what I put on Facebook but I know not everyone visits that website so you'll have to put up with seeing stuff twice. Like this one that Maddie posted on her FB page of being invited to homecoming by her boyfriend
I forced myself to work on a little bit of sewing while I was sick. I played around with an idea I had of bigfoot in the woods and came up with this small wall hanging. Still have to put the back on it.
I sure got some terrific BD gifts in the mail this week. My step-sister, Shannon, picked me up a whole bunch of row-by-row quilt patterns from quilt stores she hit while traveling to MO. Got some from several states plus a couple of kits too. And Ann Robson, a friend in Issaquah sent me a kit from a pattern of a WA. scene. I've got enough to keep me busy all winter.
Had fun this morning rearranging my sewing room to make it half sewing room/half office. My laptop and various paperwork needs are altogether in one room and I am loving it! Very cozy. Have a tv and VCR too and my audio books, of course.
Well, Sue just called and said she's on her way over so I guess I'll sign off here.
