Looking forward to getting a new computer today. A friend of Jenni's (a computer wizard) has a couple he's "fixed up" for us and he'll be installing when he gets off work. My laptop is working fine except the ports are wearing out and they only work half the time. I use my ports A LOT so I'm hoping a new computer will fix that problem. I don't have a phone outlet in this room so I'm hoping my hook-up will be able to access my WIFI. Technology is over my head so I'll just wait and see what develops.
I feel a little better this morning but I had a bad night again. Coughed and coughed and spit my fool head off. Will this bug ever leave my body?! I was aware on Sept. 19 that a cold was coming on and I prayed it wouldn't be a "cough cold" as they can linger way too long sometimes. And this one has. I had hoped to drive into Port Townsend on Saturday for a memorial service at the American Legion but I don't dare chance it if I'm still coughing. Sometimes when it starts in, it sounds like I'm choking to death and on my last leg. Seems to get worse if I talk or get even a little bit warm. Damn nuisance!
I set up a jigsaw puzzle yesterday afternoon in the kitchen. Only 500 pieces and the picture is Idaho. At first I opened up this LL Bean jigsaw that Susan bought me for Xmas as I had tried to put it together once and was unsuccessful. I still wanted that picture, though -- it's a street map of my childhood neighborhood in Port Townsend and I wanted to mount it on the wall. I had to give up a 2nd time, though. Couldn't even get the edges completed as the pieces are all pretty much the exact same cut. I had gone online to look at the comments for this product and several people complained that they were too difficult to complete.
I also started work on my paint by sticker book and it's really fun (but you have to go slow). I found a sticker missing on my first project of a hummingbird and either the book had it missing or it got misplaced as I was working. I don't think it was me, though, as I was going real slow and I even went back to peek underneath some stickers I had placed. Puzzling where it went but I'll color in the blank spot if I have to.
I decided it was time I got to know my phone a little better (it intimidates me for the most part) but I wanted to try some camera apps. I was able to get this one downloaded that makes your shots look like cartoons. Here's my front and back yards. Cool, don't you think?
Jen took Sammy to the vet yesterday as he hasn't been acting or walking right. They couldn't find the problem but felt it might be a strained neck. They prescribed these muscle relaxers and pain pills. He still pretty much stays in bed but does wander out a bit more than he was. Poor baby.
I attempted to make some bookmarks with three cross stitch patterns I had sewn but as usual, my finished products looked like hell! I really need to read up more online about finishing the edges on aida cloth. I wasn't feeling good enough to do a more detailed job so I just sewed some felt to the back. Made the mistake of trying to bring the edges forward on the first one. Dumb idea. I should just toss it in the trash but I'll save it for myself. As if I need a reminder I'm a crummy sewer. Ha ha
As soon as I feel better I intend to get back to sewing. I've got a stack of library audio books just waiting for me.
Wayne brought over four quarts of frozen wild blackberries that his mother picked and wanted to gift to me (along with a zucchini) so I plan on making her a quilt as a thank you. She's given me berries before and I know how hard they are to pick.
Think I'll get this room cleaned out a bit to make room for Jenni's friend to install a computer this afternoon. Looking forward (sorta) to the vice presidential debate tonight. I'll have to keep my mouth shut, though, as the "computer guy" will be here then and Jenni says he's a Trump supporter. No comment.
