I sure do enjoy having my sewing room and office all in one place. Too bad I didn't think of it sooner. When I think I've got everything the way I want it, I realize no... that box can go to the garage, I don't need that box at all, this can go on the wall, etc etc. So much fun. I was going to explain "my cozy den" to my sister in my next letter (she's not online) and thought having some pictures to share might be kind of fun. We both think of our Aunt Velna when we're storing all our goodies in cubby holes here and there. Velna's bedroom was a heavenly place to visit. Tons of materials, bric a brac, books, jewelry, lots of cute treasures. She always shopped Goodwill and St. Vincent de Paul type stores and Janie and I both prefer those stores for our own shopping. Anyhow, here's some pics I took today.
4 knickknack shelves on the wall with my Port Townsend "stuff" and bins of material
my sewing table, thread supply, and drawer bins with paper work
my computer table & sewing table corner
behind the door: my trusty ole barrel full of batting and such and that maroon colored hanging on the left is a thing I made from my dad's old ties
As I sit and watch tv or listen to audio books. Am into the Ryder Cup golf tournament today. It's pretty good too!
My energy level comes and goes. I feel pretty good and get going on something and then I'm back to coughing and spitting like there's no tomorrow. Been putting up with this nonsense for over two weeks. My chest hurts like the dickens but I suppose it will clear sooner or later. Sooner I hope as I wanted to head into PT next Saturday for a memorial and potluck at the Legion for classmate Les Walden's wife, Patti. Definitely won't go if I'm still barking my head off, though. And then too, I'm carrying around a spit cup wherever I go and that wouldn't look too ladylike.
Jenni gave Sammy a bath the other day so I decided that was a good photo opportunity.
I just browsed Netflix online to see if I couldn't find a few things to add to my list. Sometimes it's hit and miss. I did decide to up my cable bill to a level where they can't be charging me extra for watching netflix, amazon, or listening to Pandora. Still irks me that they continue to keep their hand in my pocketbook. The last thing I watched and really enjoyed on Amazon was One Mississippi.
Man, but my hands are cold today. Guess I'm going to have to break down and turn the heat on soon. Electric bill arrived today and it was $186. Course that's for garbage, sewer, and water as well as electric. Still too much as far as I'm concerned.
Jenni made some no-bake cookies this week and I vaguely recall making those myself years ago. Here's the recipe:
In a saucepan, mix 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup milk, 3 tablespoons Hershey's dark cocoa mix, and 1-1/2 cups sugar. Bring to a boil and let it boil for a minute and a half while stirrring.
Mix in 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 3 cups oatmeal. Stir and drop onto waxed paper until set. Remove and put in a container or cookie jar. Yum!
Haven't been doing any rock painting, jigsaw puzzles, or sewing for a while but this cold has pretty much knocked out any desire to be creative. Jenni got her flu shot the other day and her arm hurt for two days after. I'm not getting one until I'm healthy.
Last Tuesday I drove Jenni to Clearwater Casino on Bainbridge Island so we could catch the shuttle bus to the ferry. Ann Robson picked us up and took us over to Swedish for Jenni's first infusion in a while. Jenni was able to get signed up under a special program so the infusion was free. She had to stop treatments when they became too costly. That took a couple hours and then Ann (bless her heart) took us back to the ferry so we could walk back on. So tiring. Traffic was horrible (as usual) and I admire Ann for being able to navigate around and stop on hills straight up and down to wait for traffic lights. Drove me crazy and I was only a passenger. Jenni mentioned this morning that since her infusion, she's seen a difference in her vision. She still gets dizzy if she looks up and looks around too fast but at least she can focus a little better than she could before.
Always interesting to watch all the homeless people. Amazes me to see their tents right on the street.
And those Eber cab drivers! They stand right outside the elevator that takes you from the upper level of the ferry terminal down to the street so they can be the first to ask you if you want a ride. Hard way to make a living.
Here's a picture I saw in the Leader this week. Southwoods Variety used to be Brooks Dime Store where Lois Venarchick's bead store is now. At least I'm pretty sure that's where Southwoods was.
Well, even though it's only 2 o'clock, I think I'm gonna go put on some warm pajamas. I'm cold.
