from the front porch
from the back porch
my back yard Christmas tree (so pretty at night)
swept off trash bins to scatter finch food but it kinda looks like dirt so I don't know if they'll find it.
I was sitting here half listening to the Kathie Lee & Hoda show. They have one of the singers of Little Big Town hosting today. Kim. Pretty girl, pretty hair, but oh my, her sweetsie voice is hard to take over time. I sure do love their latest hit song, though. Better Man. Really describes my son.
Jenni went out to shovel the back deck a little bit so Sammy might be more inclined to go down the steps. I came across this roll of "stuff" she had given me years ago as a path to put on icy steps and walks. Looks like a straw door mat. I thought I had rock salt too but I must have used it up. I did find a pair of boots and winter shoes in a bin in the garage that I pulled out to see if I can still get on. Not that I intend to go walking but I would like to make it across the driveway to check the mailbox. I got out all three of my walking sticks, as well, as I think they give you a little more stability and I absolutely do not want to fall.
Sammy wouldn't go out the back door to pee this morning so I thought I was safe opening the garage door. Nope. Off he went and of course, he wouldn't come when called. Decided the snow was fine and dandy while he explored up and down the street. I finally grabbed his leash with a clangy chain that he knows means he's going for a walk. And the little fool comes running. Ha Ha I tricked him.
I woke up at 4 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep so I got up and made a cup of cocoa and went on Facebook. Didn't take long for the ole bod to realize she was tired after all so I curled up in the recliner and slept until 8. Jenni comes stumbling out and says she had a nightmare about leaving a baby in a hot car. I thought "how totally bizaare!" I had dreamed of leaving a baby in a hot pan of mac & cheese, but more like a fondue sauce. I guess we're both nuts.
I sent out about four dozen cards this year. I made them but probably won't do that again 'cause I'm no good at it. I probably should have written Mary, Chris, and Moose under this one as a few people just plain didn't get it. I got three calls wondering what it meant. Do you get it?
Course I could only send it to those folks who knew my daughter. ha ha
I finished watching 'The Crown' on Netflix. Man, was that a good series. Good. Good. I'm reading Kitty Kelley's book 'The Royals' now. Was reading it before but put it aside. Decided to pick it up and start in again. I watched a movie with Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Alba called 'The Killer within me.' It was dreadful. Violent, too much sex. I only watched it all the way through 'cause I wanted to see the villain caught and see the reaction of the townfolk. So, how'd it end? With a big fire. He burned up along with a few townfolk. I was not happy.
I managed to get the bulk of my wrapping done and set out in the garage day before yesterday. Still have a tiny bit to go but at least it's mostly out of my hair. Am still working on an afghan I may gift too. Picture below...
I finished up an embroidery design I saw in a magazine but opted to put it in an embroidery hoop instead of framing it like the directions said. Easier that way.
I had a jigsaw puzzle set up and about 1/3 done but like the last 3 or 4 puzzles I've set the card table up to work on, I lost interest and put it away. I love doing jigsaws but I think my legs and back were just not comfortable sitting. I have crossword puzzles to keep me occupied, at any rate.
Jenni subscribes to the P.A. paper so I cut out the puzzle daily while she keeps an eye out for the kids' names in school sports or academics. They got in there a couple days ago for receiving honors awards. I cut out political cartoons that make me chuckle (about Trump) and various opinion columns (again about Trump). I've started a scrapbook of sorts and am adding to it over the months. I can't hardly put into words how sad I am that Hillary lost to that buffoon.
Mary sent me a picture of what Jake insisted needed to be on their tree --his dirty socks. I don't think he's figured out the concept yet. ha ha
I hung my favorite homemade ornaments from my favorite quilt. Ornaments by cousin Susie; quilt by sister-in-law Lill.
Pics I saw on Facebook that made me laugh.....
And one that was especially pretty .... Poulsbo
