Sometimes when I get up feeling this punky right off the bat, I dig in and get the chores done early that I had on my to-do list. This morning I moved a large hassock in the living room (on wheels, that goodness) out to the garage since we never use it and I'm not utilizing my garage space like I could. It's Jenni's hassock anyhow and she'll take it when she moves. I also decided one of my kitchen drawers and two shelves in the pantry weren't being used as well as they could. Took things to the garage that are never used (five cutting boards for example) and dumped a variety of lids into a box instead of letting them take up valuable drawer space in the kitchen. That freed up pantry space too and then I removed two tool boxes from the hall closet and took them to the garage. The more I look around, the more I realize there's lots of ways to use space better.
Wayne moved my patio table from the garage to the back deck and I've got other corners I'm giving a second look. Moved my laptop to the kitchen table so I could write this blog and still watch the potatoes and eggs I have cooking for the potato salad I'm making today. Going to start my last bag of scraps too. Will take my time as this particular bag (2" strips) is a little fuller than the others I've worked on. Did finish the 1" strips yesterday and I think I'm going to add a border to make it bigger.
It's awfully pretty, I think.
Fixed yogurt and toast for breakfast and read the morning paper. Saw Maddie did pretty good at her track meet. Won the 3200-meter run and participated in the first place relay winning races for the 4x200 and 4x400.
Wayne and Hunter are busy making dump runs in each of their trucks today since it's free dump day. Their property is slowly being cleared of old machinery and trees to make room for their new mobile home. Jen and I went to the fairgrounds yesterday to stroll through craft booths. Here's some photos I took.
This pussy willow tree with lights really caught my eye. I wish I had a pussy willow tree.
I liked seeing all the old toys and old kitchen ware.
Notice the paint-by-number pictures and the JP Patches book? ha ha
This lady sells on eBay a lot and I thought her outfit was colorful.
I ended up buying one of these hanging plants but it didn't look right hanging in my window so I just have it and another I bought sitting near the front door.
I really like these and am going to try and make some for gifts. The air plant on the left you just submerge in a bowl of water for about an hour, maybe once a month? I'm going to have to read up on it. The other is also just planted in plain old sand. It doesn't need water but maybe a tiny sprinkle once a month.
Here's a shot I took of the fairgrounds with the mountains looming in the background. So pretty.
Wayne came over and cut my lawn late yesterday afternoon (in the rain, no less!) Sure was happy to have it done.
The roofer finished putting a new roof on their house. It was an easy roof to do but man, is it ever expensive! Cost $8500! Necessary, though, according to the realtor. They plan on putting the house up for sale next month.
Jen is slowly getting things cleaned out and cleaned up. Did the blinds the other day and they had a new front door installed. Here's a picture I took yesterday of Sammy sunny himself on the deck.
Sold a couple more books this morning so that was nice. Am hoping to get more orders at the alumni social hour in June. Tomorrow I'll take a couple down to the PA book store to see if he'll stock them. I already have two in the other book store and a handful in Port Townsend at the William James Bookseller.
Am reading The Fields by Conrad Richter right now and hoping to locate The Town. I may end up having to order it on Amazon although I'm going to try and order it at the library first. Mailman brought me 'The Way West' yesterday that I picked up on eBay.
Well, the potatoes and eggs are done cooking so I guess I'll move myself back into the sewing room and get started on those strips. Not too much on the agenda this week. Doc appt on Tuesday and casino lunch on Friday. Plan on watching the Rhody Parade this year too. Am I repeating myself? Probably but I'm too lazy to go back and check.
Next Sunday marks the 8th year since my dad passed away. Always amazes me how quickly times passes. Sure do like sitting here and looking out on my daffodils and tulips blooming in the backyard. I like spring time.
