I don't know why I haven't been blogging lately. I suppose 'cause I post on Facebook a lot of the time and/or email various folks. At any rate, I probably should try to stay more up to date. It does help me go back to remember what I was doing when.
So far this month my biggest activity was the annual alumni reunion at the Elks Club in Port Townsend. Joyce Lee, Mary Gaboury, and I all left after the social hour (I took A LOT of pictures) and we headed to the casino for dinner and gambling. Mary stayed overnight so I could help her with her computer but I wasn't able to do much. She wanted to get everything off her very old PC and onto her laptop. Only problem was, her old computer was REALLY old. She took it back home again and her neighborhood computer helper was able to do what I couldn't. And then the PC was off to Goodwill. Although I wonder if they'd even take it. Might have gone to the dump.
Mary and Dave's condo in Bonney Lake sold right away so now they're going to Portland to drive this older RV up to PT and park in her nephew's yard. Dave will have to do a lot of work on it but at least Mary is back in PT where she wanted to be. Well, for the summers anyhow. They'll still travel to Yuma for the winter months.
Jenni and Wayne's house sold right away too. They're going to rent a small house until their new mobile is set up on their property 5 miles away. She's hoping for some month in the summer but it might take until fall. So many details and hoops to jump through.
Mary and Andy spent her 50th birthday in NYC. It was a work trip for her so Andy and Jake did the tourist thing while she was at her seminars. They also made a trip to PA to visit Andy's family members and to introduce Jake as a little boy and not a toddler.
My days are spent sewing, listening to audio books, surfing the net, watching shows on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, napping, reading, and anything else that strikes my fancy. Today I rehung three hummingbird feeders on my deck. They were hanging from the roof eave but I was always nervous getting up there to replace the food. I rigged up a wire hanging down so the feeders are closer to my face -- plus I can see them better when I sit in my recliner and they come in to eat.
I had a deer show up in my back yard last week when the wind blew the gate open. She helped herself to my bird seed and my pansies before I ran her off. That's my first deer in the back since I moved here in Dec. 2008.
Today (or is it tomorrow?) is the 35th anniversary of my divorce. I celebrated by having a small ice cream cone. Ha!
A friend from my navy wife days dropped in last week. Hadn't seen her since 1964. Coke Miller.
Mike Logue of Michigan and Molly Logan of Belgium came by for a visit too. Both were in town for alumni.
Here's some of the pictures from alumni. Others you can view on my page on Facebook. I posted over 80 of them.
Mary Gaboury, Linda Pedersen, Lew Morello, Dave Marriott, me (with my PT shirt), Karen Jovag, Lois Edney, Sharon Sofie, and Liz O'Brien with her hubby, Craig.
I didn't stay for the dance (too tired) but I do love these guys' music. The Brothers.
Sometime soon they're gonna start clearing the scotch broom from the block across from my doorstep. Eight families are going to help each other build their homes so it ought to be interesting to watch. They had a little ceremony to welcome them to the neighborhood.
This is the view from my porch now. Sure will be happy to see those weeds disappear.
Gotta go research the "Guess the Guest" contest on the Leader now. I NEVER figure out who the star is but I'm still trying. The clues are usually very difficult.
My half sister in NC is coming up to meet me and my other siblings next month. Looking forward to it too. Nothing much on my agenda for the rest of June although I will drive to PT on the 24th for a funeral. Rob Strain.
Sue's mother-in-law died today so I guess her and Paul will be flying to So. California soon. Catie might go too.
Here's some of the latest of Jake.
