It's Spring Time but still nippy out there

Well, so much for trying to post on my blog daily. Bad Joyce!  I do manage to get onto Facebook a few times a week, though.  It’s 11 a.m. and I’m sitting here looking at a very bright and sunny day.  I’ve got the heat on, though, and a blanket on my knees.  It may be sunny but it’s still chilly out there. And from the looks of Facebook, snow fell overnight two hours from here.  I may (or may not) head to Safeway this morning as I’m almost out of bread and milk.  We’ll see…..  Mailman brought me my latest Netflix disk. Joined up so I could see all the movies that aren’t available on the streaming part of their service. Victoria and Abdul will be watched tonight.  Actually, I’m not all that enthused about any of the movies that got awards this year – but I’ll still watch them.  And maybe order others from years past.

Jan Higdon gave me a huge collection of Linda’s old VHS movies and I was surprised that only two were duplicates of ones I already had.  And there were over 70 of them!  I’m thrilled.  Now I have a never ending supply to keep me company in the sewing room as I keep busy in there for the next few months. I also picked up half a dozen audio books at the library a few days ago. I like listening to them while sewing but so often, the disks are defective and the story is interrupted.  Or maybe it’s my cd player. Whatever…I struggle to get through the books once they grab my attention. The last one was East of Eden by John Steinbeck.  I loved it at first but then I tired of the woman being way too evil. She bored me.

I spent the last few days scanning in pictures that were in Linda Pedersen’s collection that Jan also gave me. Sharing them on Facebook. Over 150 mostly ‘Looking back’ photos from old Leader issues.  Good stuff!  I’ve been trying to use my wifi less since cable seems intent on trying to charge me an extra $10 for going over my GB  limit.  Greedy bums!  I am using my roku for radio stations and Pandora music less.  Tuning in on my cellphone instead which isn’t on wifi.  Also pulled out 200 old cassette tapes and I’m taking the time to play both sides in my little tape player Walkman.   A little bit of a nuisance to get up and change the tapes but I need to get up more anyhow and there’s no denying my music selection is varied.

Made a stew for supper two nights back and will have it again tonight but with dumplings.  Interesting, right? This is why I haven’t been posting as much. Every day pretty much mirrors the day before.  I’ve also been entertaining myself with jigsaw puzzles lately.  And crossword puzzles when I eat. So much for the solitary life.  But I’m contented.  Guess I’ll go hunt for pictures now and add them here with notations.

this was a painting shown in the PA paper of a road in Sequim that I knew of as I went there during each season to take a picture of it.  See below.....

This is high school students demonstrating about the shooting in Florida. The background was especially interesting to me as we lived on that hill.
this picture was in the PA paper and I just plain thought it was interesting
these next two photos are of Jake and how fast he's growing up

This was a picture in Linda's collection of 1992 Rhody run with Doris LaChance, Linda, Marcia Caldwell, me and Catie
a cute garden photo I saw on Facebook
another Facebook post that made me laugh

Stopped by Barb Shaw's house last week. She's putting her house on the market and moving to Texas
Went by my old mobile home park in Sequim to look at my beat up place...and it was gone. Neighbor (Vivian shown below) said the lady died a year back and they tore the house down. Not even worth moving apparently as she didn't take care of it.  I'll have to post an old picture I took of the place when I lived there.  It was beautiful in snowy weather.

Here's  a cute cartoon I got in email a while back
One of the old pictures I posted on facebook. Chimacum school in 1916
                                           Uptown theater in 1947
