It's 4:40 and I'm in my slump period. Seems like some days my slump period can last all day long. At any rate, I'm yawning to beat the band but determined to not take a nap this late in the day. Besides, I already kind of took one in the lounger on the deck. Wind wasn't blowing and the sun was feeling pretty good. Apparently I need to get more sun anyhow. My blood work has shown I'm Vit D deficient. Been that way for some time even though I'm now taking 4 pills a day!
I had my teeth cleaned at 11. Hadn't been to a dentist in years so I was mighty surprised that I didn't have cavities. Especially considering my sweet tooth. I also hadn't had a cleaning so that was what my appt was for today. Have to go in next week so she can dig around and clean some pockets better. Which sounds absolutely dreadful to me! But I'll do it. After the dentist, I headed to the doctor's office a block away to have some blood drawn. Apparently my white cells are dipping (or something?) Also was suppose to get a hemochromotosis panel done which checks to see if I have the disease genetically. Lab tech said I should probably call Medicare first to see if it was covered as the cost is $200+.
Not my cup of tea calling Medicare. My wait time wasn't real long but long enough to annoy me. And then the lady couldn't answer my question. Said she needed to know what the doctor's code numbers were when ordering the test or submitting to Medicare. Sigh....Nothing seems to go smoothly when you're dealing with the medical world. I sent my doctor an email and now I wait (probably a week or more) to get an answer from her nurse.
From there I headed to Walgreen's to pick up a couple reprints and decided I might as well hit Safeway for a couple items. Ended up spending a tad more than I meant to 'cause I was hungry and everything looked good. At one point, Jenni ended up behind me in the car and pulled into Safeway parking lot to talk. She said: I didn't think that was you at first because you used your blinkers. She thought that was funny. I told her I always use my blinkers if it calls for it. If no one is around, I don't feel the need.
I came home to eat lunch and work a crossword puzzle and looked over my bills which I'll pay this weekend. Had a few more expenses this time because of my Oregon coast vacation. Tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut. Now that I've decided to wear my wig more often, I don't mind if my hair is short. Don't need it sticking out from under the wig. I also ordered myself a hat so I can alternate between the wig and hat when I have to go out and about and don't want to try and curl my almost non-existent hair!
I've been working most days on quilts. Trying to use up a lot of odds and ends of material scraps so the squares are 3,4,5, &6". To save money, I shopped Goodwill for flannel sheets for the batting. Not as soft and thick as regular batting but man, that stuff can get expensive.
I gave one away yesterday to a sweet girl who did some carpet cleaning for me. I've two more in the sewing room to finish and then I can move on to some other quilting projects. Think I might send my cousin, Linda, one too. I just read on Facebook that she's had a stroke and has pneumonia too. Poor thing. She's been so stressed lately I've been worried about her. She lives in KY so chances are, we'll never see each other again.
Sunday, June 2 I'll head to PT for a memorial service and then back on June 9th for the annual alumni social hour. The following Saturday is the twin's graduation party so I'm excited to go to that. I'm probably repeating myself, right? Oh well, it's all I got.
Netflix sent me a movie today (Nostalgia) and I'm hoping it's better than the 5 stars that IMDB gave it. I watched a couple of Al Pacino movies this past week and have decided (again) that he is not an actor I enjoy watching. I loved him in Godfather and some of his earlier movies but his later ones are just sucky. He overacts.
Met a new neighbor when I went out walking yesterday. She's about 8 houses down on my side of the street. Widow lady whose husband died of Alzheimers. She has a bad back and has had several surgeries. Still needs more. We're the same age and she lives in a house her son owns. She likes to putter around the yard and work with flowers but her back won't allow her to do much anymore. I can identify with that. She also has MS. Our birthdays are a week apart too. She lived in CA and VA and has a black lab. And yep, I got all this in a ten minute visit over the fence. (Paula)
My oldest grand daughter turns 29 tomorrow. Gees, I'm feeling old typing that. She's got a little business going on Etsy called Weinridge. Sells her stuff at the Kent Open market during the summer too. She just became the manager of that event and seems to be doing pretty good. Check her stuff out on Etsy.com
Here's a shot of her and her dad and her half sister, Audrey, when they were both around two. Also shown in Audrey and Dave and Catie in a more recent photo and another with her other half sister, Carol.
Just went outside to take a few pictures of the progress of the homes going up across the street.
Won't be much longer before folks will be moving in. I've heard July 3rd perhaps.
And with that, I guess I'd better grab the hose and give my few plants and flowers a little watering.
