It's a little after 9 a.m. and as I sit here watching the weather through my window, I'm thinking mother nature can't decide what to do today. It was gray and windy an hour ago so I took down my patio umbrella and then the sun came out bright and shining. Now, it's kinda gray again. I guess I'll just ignore the weather and get on with other activities here in the house. Which means I'll be sewing and surfing the net.
I just skimmed the Leader and PDN. Neither had much of interest although I quit my subscription to the Leader so I can only read a few items. I'll head up to the library this weekend and get caught up on back issues. I'm in the process of tying a small quilt today and it's half done so then I'll start pinning it around the edges. It's kind of a neat quilt. I used this bicycle material I had onhand.
Sammy is coming by in a couple hours and will spend the night. Jen is driving to the airport to pick up Wayne (he rode with Hunter to AZ) as Hunter starts college and needed to get his apartment set up. They'll stay the night at Mary and Andy's and Mary plans a barbecue. The only thing penciled in on my calendar is to get a haircut tomorrow. I look pretty dreadful but then my hair has never been my best feature. It continues to thin as I age and I'm thankful I have a wig now that I can pull out for necessary outings.
I went to Safeway yesterday and the car next to me had a fender bender as she was backing out. I do hate that parking lot; it's so difficult to see when you want to back out. I bought a package of ground beef and chicken breasts and just finished dividing them up into individual packs for the freezer. Hate that job. But it's nice when it's done and you know you have several dinners stocked away.
My night time viewing has been hit and miss with various shows on Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix. I've been watching this travelogue on Amazon where they go to 12 different states. I enjoy watching from the comfort of my recliner. So far, I've seen Alaska, Hawaii, Virginia, and Wash. They did a brief look at the wooden boat festival in PT.
I also caught this movie on Hulu called Wendy and Lucy starring Michelle Williams. She was heading to Alaska (as a young single woman) with her dog, Lucy. Looking for work. Her car breaks down in Oregon, Lucy gets lost, and her misadventures from there kept me on the edge of my seat -- mainly because it was all so credible.
I've been checking out DVDs at the library and am working my way through the seasons of Peyton Place from the mid 60's tv show. Ryan O'Neal and Mia Farrow. I can remember being totally hooked on that show and wouldn't miss it. It's very dated and cornbally but I'm watching it, never the less. I also rewatched the British show called Cranford. If I want to watch the second season, though, I have to subscribe to Brit Box. Which I may. I do enjoy a lot of those British shows.
Two of the neighbors in the alley have apple trees blooming and I look at them longingly thinking about apple pie. I bet they'd let me pick some if I asked but I probably won't. I should go visit my brother. As I recall they have a ton of apples in their yard too.
Here's a cute cartoon I saw on FB this morning.
It caught my eye because I woke up feeling achy and sore from head to toe. I took the foam mattress of my bed (again) to see if it makes any difference in my sleep patterns. I've been doing this repeat chore all year long. Obviously I have some OCD going on. Last night's dream was sure interesting. Merle Haggard and John Wayne both showed up. I don't often have stars in my dreams so it's always a puzzle when one appears. They're both dead, of course, but then dead people are always showing up in my dreams. I wonder if that means something.
Well, time to get off the computer and concentrate on finishing that quilt. I've got an audio book I'm listening to and I'm a little curious to see how that's coming along too.
