So proud of myself. I pulled a few boxes out of the back "storage" room that contain various files and clippings and blah blah blah. I discarded quite a bit and it's amazing how it can give you such a feeling of accomplishment. One of the hardest things to toss are old letters. At least it's hard for me. I have several from my brother, Les, and my sister and my mother that I just wasn't quite ready to dispose of yet. I suppose I will sooner or later. I had one folder marked "health notes" and it was full of tips on how to stay healthy. I decided the hell with that!
I have marked folders holding various keepsakes of each of my kids and grandkids. Not all that interesting but I'm sure they'll get a kick out of seeing it once I kick the bucket. I must be in one of those moods as I also pruned old plants on the deck, moved the pots around, swept the deck, cleaned out my embroidery thread baggies. cleaned out a few dresser drawers, and did hand laundry. Trying to keep busy as this is a "fast" day for me. Not that I'm moving quickly -- I'm not eating. Trying to fast at least one day a week and today was the day.
I also pulled out a box of genealogy paperwork and notebooks as I think I'm going to pick that hobby up again. I found a lot on my grandpa's side of the family but want to find more and am especially keen on finding anything on his mother, Jane Downs. I came up mostly empty handed on her except for her life after marrying Lewis Blankenship and having kids. One of which was my grandpa. I'd really like to learn more about her family in Delaware.
Joyce Lee came by to visit so I made her take home a small lap quilt -- whether she wanted it or not! hee hee Tomorrow I plan on baking an apple pie. Looking forward to that. My brother and sister-in-law gave me a large bag of apples yesterday and while I planned to freeze some of it, I think a pie is in order too.
I finished watching a movie on Amazon last night with Kim Bassinger. I dreamed of Africa. Pretty good. I'm still working on getting through the DVDs I picked up at the library of old Peyton Place shows from 1964-67. You have to be in the mood to watch that kind of entertainment.
My little crow died in the corner of my yard during the night so I put him in the trash bin this morning. Garbage pick up is tomorrow, thank goodness.
And I guess that's all I have for now. Back to the genealogy I go.
