It's always hard to think of a post title, which I guess is obvious by the one I chose this morning. It's 11 a.m. and I've been awake since 4. Yep. 4 a.m. Hate it when that happens. Needless to say, I'll be taking a recliner nap before this day is over. Things started out with a thud for me. I couldn't get my new laptop to let me sign in. I did everything I could think of. THANK GOD FOR GRANDCHILDREN! Catie to the rescue. She talked me through it on the phone and was able to establish right off the bat what was wrong. Apparently, you have to HOLD the button in when shutting down; otherwise it just goes to sleep. Once we got that done, I was a happy camper again.
I had planned on cutting down the cardboard out in the garage that came with my new recliner. I do hate cutting cardboard -- and there was a lot of it. So much so that I was pretty sure it wouldn't all fit in my recycle bin. Pick up is tomorrow so I needed to get it pulled out to the alley today. My trash and recycle is picked up every other week but my bins are so large that sometimes I don't have enough to even bother pulling them out so I leave them for two more weeks. Which was the case today so my bins were full. Anyhow, I decided I would throw the cardboard in the back of the car along with a few boxes I hadn't cut down yet and drive them down to the recycle center myself. It's only a couple miles down the road and it's free. I got the car loaded which wasn't easy with my damn arm giving me so much grief but I managed. Got down there and saw I had to climb some steps and then toss the stuff up and over into this large bin. I knew I was going to be struggling. The only other customer out there was this guy and I asked him if there was an easier way to discard cardboard. He took pity on me and tossed it all in himself. I gave him a painted rock (have some in my car) for his reward. ha ha
When I got home I realized I was sticking to the floor a bit. My fault. Spilled a little sugar water when I was refilling the hummingbird feeders. I pulled out the broom for a quick sweep and got out the Swiffer mop to clean. My granddaughters gave me that mop for Christmas and said they couldn't believe I didn't have one. Well, I must say, give me a rag mop anytime! Those things are okay for minor wipeups but if your floor is dirty (like mine is 'cause I don't mop if I don't have to) they don't really get the dirt up.
Once I got that job done I decided to switch two floor lamps between the living room and my sewing room. I had them reversed and didn't like it so I had to change back. I unloaded the dishwasher and noticed the inside of the door still looked dirty. I was thinking that cheap Walmart brand of dishwasher soap wasn't any good; now I know for sure. Some things you just have to buy name brands. Grape Nuts cereal is another one. I bought Safeway brand and it wasn't near as good. I also won't buy Safeway hamburger buns anymore. The last package I bought had caked on flour on the bottom bun so bad I couldn't even scrape it off.
It's been a morning of aggravation for me. When I got up at 4, I tried to finish sleeping in the recliner. Something I've been doing a lot because of my arm. Today the wall clock over my head drove me nuts with its ticking. Usually I can ignore it but I guess I'm on my period if I still had periods. I moved the clock to the sewing room and brought that clock to the living room and hung it away from my chair.
I haven't fasted yet this week. Started to on Monday but I didn't feel well and gave in at noon. The next day I was quite ill. Not sure if it was a bug or the reaction to a pill I took. I knew better than to take someone elses' prescription so I guess I got what I deserved. OR.... it was just a bug and not the pill at all. I'll never know because I'm not taking anymore of the pills (and I was better the following day).
I've been watching seasons of The Waltons while I sew. I've got to take the time to finish the quilt tops I have completed. Just hate that part of it. I'm terrible at it and it kills my back. I've lost interest in crocheting and knitting so I gave what yarn I had onhand to an old friend here in P.A. She gave me a large collection of beads and jewelry for Catie to use in her crafts. Mary and Jake are coming to Hadlock on the 14th for the annual halloween cookie party at Shari Glessing's so I'm going to drive in and give the beading to Mary to take back for Catie. Jen might ride with me. If the weather is good, I hope to go into PT and take some pictures here and there.
I came across new episodes of Life Below Zero on the Hulu channel. I had watched all of the other ones and was thrilled to find more. Nothing quite so relaxing as sitting in your recliner doing counted cross stitch (in pajamas, of course) and watching those Alaska folks toiling away. It's one of my favorite shows. Sometimes I have to hunt and hunt on the three channels I get (Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix) to find something worthwhile but if you're diligent, there is some good stuff out there. My only regret at not having cable is that I miss golf, football, and baseball. And the awards shows and some things on PBS. The rest of it is all garbage in my opinion. I certainly don't miss the Seattle news shows or ANYTHING having to do with Trump or any of the other crooked politicians in our midst these days.
There's a website I belong to that is rants and raves from Clallam County people. Man, there are a lot of angry people out there with FILTHY mouths! And most can't spell either. It is entertaining a lot of the time, though. Yesterday I went to two places that I was told really wanted anything that you were going to donate. That was an eye opener. They were quite picky and I won't waste my time with them again. Still don't want to donate to Goodwill, though. They irritate me even more.
Grandson Hunter is off to a good start at his school in Arizona. Is at 100% in his course and was voted 'Best Student of the Course'.
Well, that's about it for now. No pictures to speak of except ones I've already posted on Facebook.
Weather is turning cool fast. I pulled out my hats and gloves this morning.
