Day after Turkey Day

8 a.m. and it's darn wet outside. Looks like it wants to stay that way too. I might make a quick Safeway run later this morning and a walkabout in Rite Aid just to see their sale items.  My shopping and wrapping are pretty much done except for maybe a couple of three items.  I looked over the newspaper ads of Rite Aid while at Jen's house yesterday and they had a couple things I thought might interest me.

Dinner was absolutely delicious and it was so nice to see the grandkids.  Well, three of them anyway. I've been watching the 4th on Facebook as his mom posts pictures of their adventures in Costa Rica. I think they come home today. May even be on their way now.

I ended up with about a dozen pics on Thanksgiving day.  Catie shared a couple with me that she took a while back. I'm posting them too as they're so pretty.

Catie was supposed to stay the night with me but she opted to drive back to Kent around 8 pm. Never fails to amaze me how fearless younger people are with driving at night --and in the rain!  Maddie picked up Hunter at the airport (also amazes me) and said she was holding the wheel with white knuckles part of the time as she got to the dark side of the bridge with the rain coming down. Said she knew how Gramma felt  driving at night. Ha!

I came home right after dinner. Was so worn out from not sleeping that well the night before. Which s seems to be the story of my life lately.  I fell in bed at 8:30 (maybe even a little before that) and I was out like a light.  I woke up a few times after midnight (also the story of my life) but I managed to cat nap back until 7 am.  Had to transfer to the recliner at one point as my hip gets herself worked up in a knot over time.  Sometimes I go back and forth between the recliner and my bed. The chair is right next to my bed now as I wanted to make the living room as bare as possible for when the hardwood floors are finally layed.  Or is it laid?  I never know.

Anyhow, sometimes I wake up and can't figure out where I am -- bed or chair.  I don't know if it was because I was so tired last night or maybe the small piece of pumpkin pie I had or maybe neither but  I woke up time and again from nightmares. Scary ones and I couldn't help but wonder where the hell they were coming from.  One was the usual -- my car is stolen and I'm walking around and around in parking lots trying to find where I parked it and then realizing it was stolen and I go through a whole maze of problems attempting to get the police to help me.  Last night I was really on a roll.  The last one had me at a dentist's office and the assistant asked me outright how I had allowed myself to get so fat!  ha ha  I got into it with her and then she put me in this dentist chair.  The office was full of other dentists and patients and large art pictures all over the walls.  She started to lay my chair out flat (like my recliner) as two people were coming in and robbing everyone.  A skinny woman and a guy with a Nixon mask,  The guy was sticking a sharp stick in everyone's ear after robbing them and I sat there waiting my turn.  The dream before that had me complaining to the landlord that he had put the wrong house numbers on my house and I wanted him to fix it. I had lived there for five years and just noticed it.Oddly, it was my house number now.  We got into it and I told him I had the receipt for those numbers and I was returning the bad ones.  And on and on.  I seem to be at odds with a lot of people in my dreams lately, and I wonder if I'll ever get to have happy dreamscapes again. Sigh.....

Wayne mentioned at the dinner table of his worry at going to Costco to pick up pumpkin pie. He saw crowds of people coming out with pies -- one woman had 100 or more on one of those large carts.  He headed straight for the bakery dept and was amazed to see just how many pies Costco had set up.  Dozens and dozens stacked high.  I had a piece last night and was good.

The paper this morning had a story on the new ice rink opening up.  I've never ice skated and know it's too late for me now but I am hoping to get a look at it.

Last movie I watched on Amazon was Leaves of Grass starring Edward Norton. Really good!

Kitchen fans finally left a couple days ago. I was never so glad to be rid of anything. I'm having to work around a torn up kitchen but that's okay. I know it's only temporary. I've got two physical therapy appts next week and then I'll be done with that. Looking forward to them being history. I bought this book the therapist talked about called Dynamic Aging and I'm going to try those exercises too.

My oldest child turns  54 a week from today. Here's a shot of how I looked in November of 1964 and how Sue looked a few years later.

Well, the second load of laundry is about ready to go into the dryer so I guess I'll get busy around here.  Hope your Thanksgiving weekend is relaxing.
