Christmas Fun in Renton

Maddie drove me to Mary's house Friday morning and Jenni drove over a couple hours later (with Sammy) in her car.  Thankfully, the weather was okay. Still amazes me that my grand kids can maneuver freeways.  Maybe if I was 18...... Anyhow, she did just fine and I was only a nervous wreck half the time. Hate I-5 with a passion.  There's absolutely no reason people have to drive that fast and weave in and out.  I feel like I'm taking my life in my hands every time we get on one. AND WE ARE!  Later that evening, Maddie drove to the airport to pick up Hunter who was flying in from AZ. Another reason for me to be amazed. Mary only lives 20 minutes from the airport but still.... it was dark out!  But she did it.  We ordered pizza (I should say Mary did) and we mostly relaxed around the house until bedtime enjoying the new puppy immensely. So dang cute.  Course she'll be a whole lot cuter when she's out of the puppy stage of wanting to chew everything.  When Jen walked in with Sammy, Poppy was beside herself with happiness.  Would not leave him alone ...and he was not pleased!  Although he did make a point of sticking his butt in her face over and over again.  I certainly don't envy Andy and Mary working through the puppy stage and having to go down two flights of stairs a couple times a night to take her out to pee.  Especially when it's raining.  But it will all be worth it later.  She is definitely a sweet dog.  At one point, she had to go to her inside kennel so we could open gifts.  She loved the wrapping paper and cardboard and mess everywhere.
I made sure this time that I got a group picture of me and the grand kids. I seem to forget every time I have all four in the same room.

My friend, Ann Robson, came over Sat. afternoon from Issaquah so that was a nice visiting bonus.
I took lots of pictures while we were opening Saturday evening but I'll only post a few here as they're just your basic "opening Christmas presents photos."

Mary and Andy, as usual, were over the top generous with their gift giving. Two of my favorites from them was a Safeway gift card and a six-month subscription (on tv) to YouTubeTV.  Will let me see a ton of channels and I can hardly wait to hook it up to my roku.  Includes golf.  Woo Hooo!

Hunter gave me a Port Townsend Paper key chain he found somewhere and a real pretty ornament painted by a woman in AZ.  One of the cutest gifts was from Andy -- a small pink fan that plugs into the USB port on my cell phone and gives me a pretty nice breeze.  Love that!

Maddie and Hunter decided to get back to Port Angeles early as she had to work at Traylor's this morning.  Jen and I left at 9 a.m. Sunday and the rain came down in buckets until we hit the Narrows Bridge. I was a nervous wreck -- you couldn't see a thing and people WERE DRIVING TOO DAMN FAST!

A nice surprise awaited me on my doorstep. A great gift box from Harry and David with nuts, pears, candy, etc. Soooooo yummy looking. Thank you  cousin Tiffany Peck in Albany. What a treat!  I also had a package in the mail from my niece in NC with some homemade soap she made.  Smells wonderful!

The house was freezing when we arrived at noon today so I quickly turned on the heat vents. Took a little nap under my electric blanket and am really looking forward to my own bed tonight. I have a hard time sleeping anyway and it was a little more of a challenge this time for me to get comfortable away from my own bedroom.  Now if I can just shake this dang cough that is hanging on. I go hours and think I'm good and then it starts up again. I was really under the weather Thursday and worried I'd have to cancel my trip to the city altogether.

Jake is five years old today.  Hard to believe but then I find the fact everyone I know is aging is hard to believe.  Including me.  I had to laugh at Maddie on the drive over. One of her comments was: It's going to really feel strange to turn 20. I can't believe I'm gonna be 20 in a couple of years.  ha ha ha

Well, time to fix a quick supper. I think it's gonna be hash browns and eggs 'cause I don't feel like cooking. Am heading to Jen's house tomorrow evening for a little party her and Wayne are throwing and then Sue and Paul will come here Christmas day for a lasagna dinner.

Am hoping my flooring gets finished in January sometime so I can get back to sewing, jigsaw puzzles, rock painting, and anything else that strikes my fancy.  Have a restful Holiday!
