Two Days After Christmas

It sure is hard to get going once the holidays are over. I've made myself a to-do list (story of my life) and while I am managing to get a few things crossed off, I'm finding the process slow.  Partly because of low back pain that has decided to remind me not to move furniture and to practice better posture. Neither of which is likely to happen.  It could be sciatica-- or not.  I have two recliners. One is firm (recently bought at Costco) and has a motor to automatically lift and lower the foot rest. It's leather or "like leather" and while it's pretty comfortable, I've sat in "my other recliner" for so long, my body isn't taking to the new one quite as quickly as I would have hoped.  Mainly the foot rest isn't long enough to suit me but I'll deal with it.  My old recliner is lumpy, too low and makes odd noises when I crank to set it up or down.  I've had to pad it with pillows under and behind me as it's too hard to get out of otherwise.  And since I throw a blanket over the whole thing, it's not the most attractive piece of furniture in the room.  But oh well, at least I have a warm room to sit in.

Today, I straightened up things here and there, put away a few Xmas decos, did some household chores, mailed a package at the post office substation down the road, and swept off the front steps. At some point, I'll need to start moving everything out of this room (my sewing room) and into the back bedroom --which is a huge mess right now as I keep shoving stuff in there.  The carpeting is going to be replaced in this room next month and hardwood flooring will be put down in the living room, kitchen, and hallways.  Once that is done, I'll have to decide exactly where I want things to be.  This room (the only room that looks out on the front street) will stay my sewing room and I may keep half for my office too.  On the other hand, I might opt to have a corner of the kitchen as my office area. I'll have to buy a floor mat for hard wood floors if I do that as I use office chairs on wheels and that won't be good on the new flooring.

I'm also trying to decide where I want my three bookcases.  If I don't use half this room as office space, I can probably fit the books against the wall in here. Otherwise, I might see about putting them in my bedroom.  Kind of like getting a whole new house to decorate.

One of my goals for the next few weeks is to learn all the ins and outs of my new laptop.  I know there is a lot of features I haven't accessed yet.  I'm starting with the word program today or tomorrow. I need to write thank you notes and since  I hate my handwriting and it's getting worse all the time, I decided I'm going to type my notes (fitting the margins to fit the cards), print them off, cut them and paste them in each card.  I know thank yous are supposed to be handwritten but at least the people will be able to read what I write if I type them all.

I haven't really felt that great these past weeks.  Got a cough around Thanksgiving and while it's pretty much gone now, I'm still feeling blah and under the weather. Not sick but not well either. Tired a lot, nauseated too often to suit me, and just never seem to have any energy.  I know I'm no spring chicken but it's starting to annoy the heck out of.  I've been reading up on IBS and I suspect that is probably at the root of my woes.  I've suffered with  it for years and I guess once you're afflicted with it, it's here to stay. Oh joy!  Well, on to pleasanter topics.

I sure got some nice gifts this year. Unusual ones too. Maddie gave me toilet paper.
Cause she knows how much I love Trump!

Andy gave me a fan that you attach to your cell phone -- I guess because he knows I get hot.  ha ha
Wayne gave me a plate and cup with Elvis on them.
Hunter gave me a hand painted ornament from an artist in AZ where he's going to school.
I guess I'm repeating myself. I do that a lot.

Been watching the kids on the street displaying their new toys. I've seen scooters and bicycles and one kid has a Segway -- something I'll never ride.

Nothing much planned for New Years Eve. I think I pretty much quit planning anything years ago. Can't stay awake that long. Which reminds me. If I want to stay up past 8 tonight, I'd best go take my recliner nap now.
