Last Sunday of the year

It's been a busy morning for me so far. Mainly just tootling around doing this and that.  I'm still organizing my "new office space" which has been set up in my bedroom. Had to clean out the sewing room as a new carpet is going in sometime next month. Maddie is coming over tomorrow to help me finish that chore. It's mostly done since Wayne came and helped move the heavy stuff yesterday but I need assistance moving the odds and ends.  Normally I could handle it all myself (I love doing stuff like that) but I've been plagued with a case of sciatica the past week and bending over and getting back up again is a problem.  Sometimes I'm fine; sometimes I want to kill myself!  Man but that low back pain is a doozy when you hit the right nerve. Definitely going to have to study up again on what exercises will help.  Meanwhile, I'm getting done what I can do and taking care to move carefully.

Even with this affliction slowing me down, I'm still hanging in there accomplishing small jobs.  Unloading the dishwasher and putting away things in lower drawers or cabinets is an area that scares me and I'll never take my mobility for granted again.  I've got a walker and a cane nearby should I need it. Oh, poor me!

I cooked up potatoes and eggs to make a potato salad for supper along with two drumsticks. Gonna nibble on a sliced pear later. Got three in a Harry & David gift package from my cousin, Tiffany, in Albany. What a surprise.  Full of chocolates, nuts, and all things good!

Called my cousin, Linda Wheat, in Louisville this morning as she turns 74 today.  Plan on watching the Seahawk game in an hour. First time in a long time. LOVE that I have youtubeTV for six months thanks to Mary and Andy.  I've had to study how it worked and how my laptop attaches to my tv. Kind of like when I first got a VCR years and years ago.  Techy stuff makes me challenge myself.

I had bought Jake a special toy for Christmas (bought it in October)  but we discovered upon opening gifts at Mary's that Hunter had bought the same gift. Too late to return mine so I advertised it on the Clallam County buy and sell website and managed to sell it just what I paid for it. The lady picked it up an hour ago.  I was selling it for $5 less but she didn't have change and told me to keep it. Yay! I'll give it to Maddie tomorrow as I'm making a list and checking it twice to see what I can have her help me with before she goes back to college.  Both her and Hunter have worked at their old jobs while they've been home for the holidays.

I didn't put out any decorations this year because I'm trying to keep the living room clear for when I need to get everything out for the hardwood floor installation. I did hang a few outside lights but took them down a couple days ago in between the nasty weather.  I signed up for a month of Showtime to catch up on Ray Donavan shows and have slowly been looking over other programs before my sub. runs out to see if there's anything I might want to follow and keep the sub. for another month.  I started watching Penn & Teller last night (there's 8 seasons) and I'm thinking I might want to see more.

I'm really liking having my computer and work desk set up in the bedroom. Kind of cozy and I can concentrate better as the view from the window is just my backyard.  When I looked out on the street, I was distracted everytime a car went by. Which is often now that we have 8 new houses being lived in.  Here's a couple views of my new bedroom/office.......

I suppose it does look a tad dorky but it suits me.  ha ha

Here's a picture Catie sent me of her and her folks when her dad came up from FL to spend a few days. His name is Dave Merrill.

No plans for New Years Eve this year.  I don't think I've bothered celebrating that holiday for several years. Bed is much more to my liking.  Tomorrow (after Maddie and I finish clearing out the sewing room) I intend to take it easy and just watch tv and read.  Oh, and do some exercises to see if I can't nip this sciatica crap in the bud or butt, as the case may be.
