Awards Shows

Most of the time I enjoy watching the awards shows. Some are better than others, of course, and it doesn't take me long to start making sarcastic remarks as I sit there in my recliner in my usual attire around the house - sweats. The dresses never cease to amaze me. The majority are awfully nice and the actresses all look pretty spiffy. Still, there are those that make you snort and wonder what in the hell was she thinking.  I get a tad bored seeing all the boobs hanging out but I guess if you're a starlet that's the name of the game.  Some stars have much better taste, however. Lady Gaga looked like she was wearing her bed sheets. Enough already!

As I grow older, the stars I'm most excited to see are those who are also growing older.  Jeff Bridges is such a doll. And so is Sam Elliott.  And I like Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. I was really happy that The Kominsky Method won two Golden Globes -- especially the one for best tv series.  It was hilarious.  I was also glad to see The Americans win for best drama series. That was a real thriller.
Most of the shows I hadn't seen but I do have a list now of what I hope to get a look at sooner or later.
I most want to see Glenn Close in The Wife. Also on my list is Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, A star is born, Green Book, Barry, and Vice.  They all look pretty good.

I was most pleased that best director and best foreign film went to the Mexican movie Roma. Even though it was subtitled on Netflix, I thought it was a great flick. Loved it!  As they usual are, the intros and "jokes" were lame and silly and boring.  Just when you think they can't get any dumber, they do!

After the Globes, I went back to this 4-part series on Amazon Prime that I was following called Quest for the Sea.  About these people who spend three months reliving what it was like being a fisherman on the coast of New Newfoundland in 1936.  I love all those reality documentaries where the people involved get ticked off with the other people in the show.  Lots of laughs.

Sometimes I have to really hunt to find shows that will hold my interest. Granted, I get impatient too quickly and am probably missing out on several shows I'd like. I may go back and try again.  One show that I especially like is Life Below Zero. I could watch that type of show all day long.

And that's about it for this chilly but sunny Monday.  Now I'm off to my picture project of scanning in what photos I don't have on my hard drive yet.  Once the hardwood floors are installed and I can put the house back together, I'll get busy on sewing and painting rocks and doing jigsaw puzzles. Such an exciting life  -- but it suits me fine!
