Only 3 days left of February

I just finished moving my cable rotor box (if that's what it's called) from the corner of my bedroom to the living room.  I've been having issues with my new roku streaming stick and one of the things I read was to not have the rotor box in a corner of the house near a window. Which is where mine was. Although I'm sure the placement doesn't have a thing to do with it since the message that is appearing on my tv screen says my stick is overheating.  After much back and forth with roku online (they never respond to chats or phone calls or emails) I decided to study up on my own and see if I can figure out what I need.  Apparently, (and I hope this takes care of the problem) is that I needed to attach an HDMI extender cable.  I googled that to see what it looked like and then ordered one on Amazon. Something to do with male/female ends where they want my stick to be plugged in not as close to the tv.  I guess.  The cord was fairly inexpensive so I wasn't too worried about ordering it. I really hate having to learn new technology that I'm NOT IN THE MOOD FOR!  But the roku has become a dear friend and I doubt I could do without it.  Mary bought me a newer version than what I was using and it has all kinds of features my old one didn't.  Anyhow, it should be here day after tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.

It sure is cold outside.  Not that I am spending any time out there. I go to the mailbox and come back. That's it. Yesterday, I had half a dozen errands to run. Was a little worried that I might not be able to do them all because my damn hip bursitis has laid me up.  But I managed.  Went to the courthouse and applied for reduced electric rates ('cause I'm low income) and went over to the one pharmacy in town that sells support stockings. $22 later, I was heading for Safeway for the 4 or 5 items on my shopping list.  From there I stopped at Rite Aid to pick up a prescription and then headed to my doctor appt.  Got a cortisone shot much to my delight and already, I'm feeling better.  Also wanted to find out just why my legs, ankles, and feet have been swelling  and why I have a rash on the back of my legs. Come to find out, it was my increased dosage of the second blood pressure pill I take. She cut that back but now I'll have to keep an eye on my b/p readings to make sure they don't go up. If they do, I'll have to try a water pill or some other b/p prescription.  I've been taking the same one for years with no problem but then she added a second pill and had me taking one and a half of that pill daily.  Guess my body didn't care for that.  I was afraid it was my kidneys.

After leaving the clinic, I decided I wanted a sandwich so I drove through Jack in the Box. Really wanted one of their shakes (the best in town) but they're over $4 a piece so I opted instead for a special they were running for $4 where you go a fish sandwich, fries, and drink.  Surprisingly, the fishwich was way better than McDonalds.  And a whole lot cheaper too!

I slept halfway decent last night and I don't take that for granted.  For months, I've been transferring from my bed to my recliner at 3 or 4 in the morning because my body hurts.  Then it's back to my bed at 5 or 6 until I literally have to force myself out of the sack, moaning and carrying on like I'd been beat with a wet towel.

Doctor said to take it easy for the next couple of days and that request was met with enthusiasm. If there's anything I like, it's taking it easy. Been in the middle of this 1000 piece jigsaw and have finally finished enough of it to make it fun.  I'll pull out a 500 piece next, though. Those 1000 pieces can drive you nuts.  And keep you from getting anything done for days on end.

Got some cute pictures of Jake out on a fun day with his dad while Mary was meeting up with girl friends for an overnight at a downtown hotel and a show at the 5th Avenue.

Saw a cute picture on Facebook today of some deer in front of the high school.  That prompted me to send out a before and after to some folks in my class.

Tomorrow I head out to get a mammogram and next Monday it's off to a see a doctor for a consultation on whether or not I need my gall bladder removed.  My March calendar has me heading to PT for a mill retirement luncheon on the 18th. Always enjoy going to those.

Watched the Oscar Sunday night. Enjoyed it especially the part where I put the tv on mute through all the acceptance speeches.  Did enjoy Olivia Colman's speech, however. Funny lady. Her movie is on my want to see list -- The Favourite.  I've seen a few of the movies this year. LOVED Roma, even though it was in Spanish. Terrific flick. Was glad he got best director.  Also enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody, and the opening number by Adam Lambert. I want to see Melissa McCarthy's film  and Green Book.  I thought Spike Lee acted like an ass, both when he accepted his statue and when he complained after the program about how Green Book didn't deserve to win.  I've always thought he was an ass.

My favorite thing was Lady Gaga singing with Bradley Cooper. I sent for that CD a few weeks ago once I heard Shallow playing on my Pandora station.  What a song!  What a voice!  She totally deserved that Oscar.  The dresses were interesting but why women would choose to wear something they had barely walk in puzzles me.  It's all on presentation, I guess and wanting to be in the spotlight.  Some of the dresses were absolutely beautiful and others were hideous. Here's some I liked:

And two that were stupid.... (at least the guys' outfits)

Well, I guess I'd better get dinner going. Decided on a cornish game hen with mashed potatoes tonight. Easy fixing suits me best.
