March is ending on a sour note for me. I got through my gall bladder surgery with little problems to speak of outside of the expected discomfort and fatigue. As soon as I started to feel better, my right hip decided she wanted to get in the game. I had had a cortisone shot in her at the end of February and it worked pretty darn well. I was happy. So what's the deal here? How come the bursitis has returned with such a vengeance?
I'm having to use a walker and cane around the house and even used it when I finally broke down and went to Safeway. Just couldn't navigate by hanging on to the cart alone and that was a surprise. I picked up the essentials and hobbled on out to the car IN DISGUST!
I've been wearing support stockings like the doctor suggested but man, my right shin looks HORRIBLE when I take them off at night. Just the right. Who knows why? I went to the doctor yesterday and he said edema can cause your skin to become discolored and red and purple and ugly. But why just the right side? And why is it doing that if my b/p numbers are so good? Which they have been for a while now. I don't get it. Dr. Google hasn't been much help either. I couldn't get another shot. Enough time hasn't gone by yet so I'm taking 3000 mg of tylenol a day. I don't think it's all that effective. I'm also using my marijuana vape stick before going to bed and while I can't say for sure if it's helping my hip pain, I do believe it is helping me sleep. I haven't had to transfer to the recliner all week long and my bad dreams have eased up too.
My next steps will be to try and stretch more but this will be a slow process as even putting on socks is dang hard. The doctor suggested a heat pad so I'm going to go that route when I watch tv, and I think I just might pull out my electric massager to see if that does anything worthwhile. This too shall pass. It's not the first time I've dealt with bursitis in my hip. It never fails, however, to put me in a funk that is hard to crawl out of. Especially when the weather is nice and you start thinking about how much you'd like to get outside and play around in the dirt a bit.
I worked on the computer all day today. Wanted to get my mill pictures organized and on my Facebook subpage that I made called Cz/ptpc My hometown mill remembered. By the time I deleted duplicates and tossed out crummy shots, I ended up with 284 photos. I'm not done yet, though. I still have to go through all the ones I've taken over the years at our retirement luncheons at Roadhouse 20 restaurant. I'm sure I'll have hundreds of those. Kind of dreading the prospect but it will be okay if I go slow and take my time.
Hunter's girlfriend, Haley, is down in AZ visiting him right now. I'm hiring her to do a few odd jobs for me through the month of April. Or at least for a couple weeks. So thankful I'll have a teenager I can call on. Just little things that I can't manage myself. Like moving planter boxes back to the deck, and weeding the tulips, etc.
One thing I have been managing to get done is to do more reading. I often end up having to nap right after I get started but I'm getting more books read all the time and that pleases me. Gonna start a new one today. I just finished "Somebody else's daughter."
I've been watching a lot of movies on Amazon Prime lately. Am involved in one serial that just started called Hanna. It's a bit of a nail biter. Jenni brought me over a lawn ornament yesterday. Was nice to get a present as I was really feeling blue. Cute little pink swan that shines because it's solar activated. I wonder if it needs to be turned on. Maybe I should go check that. Just hate the thought of maneuvering down the steps and across the uneven lawn with a cane. Oh poor me!
My cousin, Linda, is coming up in May and we'll be going to the Rhody Parade. I got a FB message today that one of my friends says I can park at her house so we don't have to walk far with our lawn chairs. She lives uptown near the theatre. I'm thrilled. We plan on having a picnic afterwards.
Well, I guess I better get up and get moving. Was going to do some sewing today but I'm no good for that if I don't start early so that will be on the agenda for tomorrow for sure.
