2020 begins

Well, here we go.  Another year is upon us. Sadly, I  find myself these days wondering if this is my final year.  What an attitude!  But it is what it is.  The more friends and family that leave the more you're left wondering...is that trip coming up for me now?  Depending on how my body is feeling, there are some days when I don't even care. Oh boo hoo me.  Get over yourself Joyce!

It's 11:20 a.m. and I just sat down with my second cup of coffee. And what a relief it was to sit!  I used half of my Safeway gift card from Mary and Andy yesterday and stocked up on groceries. I was rather proud of myself for not purchasing one single dessert or comfort food.  I may regret that decision before the week is up but I am going to give it another "first of the year" attempt to work at dieting. Me and most of the country I'm sure.  Last night I had an apple for my night time snack. It was okay but I wanted Oreos.

I did buy 10 lbs. of hamburger and this morning I took the time to divide it up into 17 individual patties to freeze up for quickie lunches and dinners.  Hamburgers have always been a favorite and I was pleased that I did it for about .58 cents a piece.  My favorite fast food places here in P.A. are McDonalds, Jack in the Box, and Frugals. And sometimes Wendy's or Subway too.  I'm going to try real hard to not use the drive-thrus available to me as the winter months drag on.

It sure was windy and stormy when I got up this morning but now the sky is blue and the sun is shining. I do hear we're in for rain this week and I'm okay with that as long as the snow doesn't arrive too.  I spent the morning cleaning up computer files, paying bills, balancing the checkbook and depositing some cash in my savings account.  One of my resolutions is definitely going to be to cut down on spending and to stash away more cash.

I've got a couple of chicken breasts cooking in the oven right now. Think I might make up a small pan of enchiladas for dinner. Otherwise it's jigsaw puzzle time, maybe some reading, and a little television entertainment. Want to catch at least one football game but I don't think golf is available until the weekend. Although I think I heard an ad promo for something going on tomorrow. Hope so. I'm only subscribing to YoutubeTV for one month.

I'll be cancelling Showtime in a month or two, as well. Amazon Prime had a special running for $5.99 a month for Showtime for three months and I was really wanting to catch up on Ray Donovan.  I'm just about ready to start Season 7 so I'm getting close to the end.

Depending on my mood, I may head into the sewing room for a while today or tomorrow to get going on making up crumb quilt squares.  Easy and relaxing way to use up all the tiny odds and ends of material you accumulate at you work on sewing projects.  Check out Darlene Michaud's crumb quilt videos on Youtube. I love watching her stuff.

Mary and Andy threw a New Years Eve party last night and from the looks of the photos on Facebook, her photo booth was a big hit.

They had a "kids new year" at 9 pm for Jake and his friends.
                                                            Catie and Louie
                                              Andy,Mary,Eric,Jenni,Dean, Candi

Well, time to get busy.  Think I'm going to sit down with my phone and figure out how to turn off message dings. Drove me nuts last night getting the same Happy New Year cartoon over and over and over again from people wanting to "keep it going."  Sigh....
