Waiting for Rain

Man, I sure hope it rains soon. And rains hard. A neighbor kindly shoveled a walkway to my mailbox for me yesterday.
His shovel was twice as big as mine and it only took him a couple minutes whereas it would have taken me two days. At the very end of the driveway, however, it wasn't completely shoveled or it was and the water puddle filled up in the hole there and iced over. I couldn't get to my mailbox so I went back and retrieved the sack of rock salt I had in the garage. Can't believe I still had it as I had downsized just about everything out there.  Anyhow, I sprinkled a bit on the worst parts and then changed out of my galoshes which I've discovered are too bulky and too dangerous to walk in safely. I had these cleat that you can attach to your tennis shoe so I put them on and carefully walked over the ice to the mailbox.  Don't think I'll be making a habit of that, however, as it was too scary.

My son in law drives for FedX and says the roads are basically clear but the side roads are not.  That was enough info for me to decide NOT to venture out until the rains wash most of it away. I'm just not comfortable driving on ice and snow.  Will mean missing a funeral on Sunday in PT unless I opt to find someone to ride with. But even that might be too hard as maneuvering up my street is tricky and my driveway is piled with snow yet. Too much for me to try to clear by myself.

I've occupied myself today with a jigsaw puzzle (which  I completed) and it was really a fun one.

I searched through my material bins to see if I had enough onhand to finish this small quilt.  By sewing together pieces of this red flannel sheet (for the backing) and sewing together three pieces of batting for the inside, I think I'll be able to complete it tomorrow.  I've also finished six quilt squares from this book of patterns I have and I plan on making several more as I attempt to use up my odds and ends of material onhand.

My Alexa is in the bedroom and I listen to Coast to Coast AM radio most nights.  Depends on the topic. Last night it was numerology and that subject does interest me. I bought the speaker's book on Thriftbooks.com where my granddaughter works.  Last week I ordered Quench, about the best way to keep your body hydrated.  Interesting topics most of the time.  You can pull them up online too if you want to see the upcoming topics. I may listen the night they discuss Bigfoot.

I saw on the Today show this morning that a new channel is going to be offered up for free called Peacock. I'll have to look in on that since my YoutubeTV subscription runs out in a week. So does my Showtime. I watched Donovan last night and will get to see one more episode this Sunday. Homeland has one season left but won't air that until February so I'm out of luck on that one.

Netflix hasn't had much of interest for a long time but I still watch Amazon regularly and sometimes Hulu and a couple of the free ones like roku and pluto.  Two things I saw on Facebook this week....

And I guess that's it for now. Found two small cans of salmon in the pantry so I'm gonna make up some patties to fry with a baked potato.
