The Oscars

I've always loved the movies. Also enjoy the Oscars, and rewatching old movies.  I have favorite stars and yes, I do follow some of the gossip on them.  It's my hobby. ha ha

I had to sign up for youtubetv for the month if I wanted to watch the Oscars last Sunday (and the super bowl) but it was worth it to me.  I had golf on most of that day but switched over to the "pre show" for the Oscars around 3.  That was annoying, for the most part.  Some of the people on the red carpet with microphones in their hand were ridiculous. I had to mute the sound for a lot of it, especially when their favorite word was awesome.  But, enough on that. Let me criticize everyone. Ha!

First of all, I enjoyed Steve Martin and Chris Rock. Have always liked both of them -- especially Steve. I think he's probably my favorite comedian.  My interest is always peaked when I see previews of the shorts and the animated shorts. I'm going to have to research where I can watch them, even if it means a rental fee.  Some of them looked terrific!

I was glad American Factory won best documentary and I was glad Brad Pitt got his statue.  Joaquin and Renee probably deserved theirs too although both of them get on my nerves.  I rented Parasite last night and even though it was subtitled, it was the clear winner over the others. I did think all of the others were good, however.  You could tell the whole row of  South Koreans were flabbergasted by the extent of their win.  Love to see that.

Was disappointed that Ray Ramona found it necessary to use his potty mouth. Definitely have seen a difference in him since he was cast in The Irishman.  I think his head has gotten a tad bigger since he got to be in a movie with the big boys.  I saw him on the golf channel and he acted cocky there too.

I enjoyed seeing all the dresses and appreciated that we were subjected to everyone's boobs falling out.  That stuff gets old.  I also got a little bored with hearing about how women are finally getting to have power. You can bang a drum too long sometimes.

Yesterday (and today and tomorrow) I'm slowly working on various forms to apply for apartments. Am leaning towards relocating to Port Townsend and focusing all my energy on that now. I stopped by Highland Commons yesterday to see if I had moved up at all on the waiting list.  When I signed up in July, she told me the wait could be a couple months or it could take a year or more. I was resigned to that but it did irk me that she never returned phone calls or emails. She was on Facebook when I walked in and that didn't surprise me much as I think she pretty much does whatever she wants at that job. Anyhow, this time she says I'm 64th on the list and I can expect a four or five year wait! Say what?!  I didn't press her on it as I figured I wasn't going to get a straight answer anyhow.  I suspected things were being handled a tad lopsided.  The last time I stopped in (around November I think) she didn't even have it recorded that I requested a one or a two bedroom at any price range, not necessarily the low income end.  Even though I stated all that at the beginning.

I was glad I stopped in yesterday or I might have sat here month after month thinking a phone call is bound to happen sooner or later. Obviously, later is the key word here. Grrrr....
But everything happens for a reason, I suppose, and once I decided that Port Townsend was really where I wanted to be more than anywhere else, I was glad the circumstances had moved in another direction.

The wait lists are long in PT too but  somehow I feel like my chances are better there than they are in Port Angeles.  Or Sequim even.  I've got one call into this place in Sequim but am waiting on a call back.  Ideally, I'll qualify for low income rates but even if I don't (because of my Edward Jones money) I'm still wanting to find a place in my hometown.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, just baked some banana bread so guess I'll wrap it up for gifts. Think I'll give one to the guy next door who shoveled my entire driveway during our snowfall.  Going to make up some bowls of salad too so I'll have them ready for dinners this week.  Meanwhile, I'm keeping busy with reading, puzzles, sewing, and my picture project.  The sun is shining and that's a good thing.
