Am thinking I need to keep the tv news off. Too damn depressing. I ran a few errands today. Goodwill got a small bag of clothes and while I tried to change my address on my driver's license, I dropped in at 1:15 and they were closed from 12:30 to 1:30. So I'll do that another day. Stopped at the bank mainly just to see where it was. Thought I might get some new checks but she said it would cost $30 so I'm crossing my old address off and writing in the new one. I have quite a few checks onhand but I don't really write that many as I use my debit card and pay bills online.
I stopped at QFC and discovered they now have cards like Safeway does so I had to apply for one. I stopped by Janie's apt house to drop off a few freebie items and then it was home. Seemed colder to me today. I'm sitting here now with my housecoat on and I hear some places might get a little snowfall. Better not be on the way to P.A. as I have to drive up there tomorrow morning to see the doctor.
I sat down with my computer and my phone to go down the list of who I had to change my address with. What a chore. Medicare said Social Security would tell them so I didn't need to notify them. One place (I think it was Humana Insurance) took my info and then made me sit while they "verified". I wondered what that meant and then their messages while you wait onhold started in. Offers I could get. What a bunch of losers!
I ate at the fella's table again tonight. Not that many residents actually sit in the dining room to eat. Two of the tables of six women each seem to have their usual seats. One table has two weird guys sitting at it. Might be mentally challenged. Or not. One reads a paperback book up close and talks to no one. Another shrimp of guy eats with his cowboy hat on. One of the caregivers told me to avoid him 'cause he a Trumper and hates all those who don't like our President.
I'm slowly learning names and faces but it will take a while as you don't really see or interact with them much. At least not at dinner. Maybe once I get into some activities. I have met a couple caregivers that seem friendly. Most of the time, though, the lounge, library, lobby, and activity room are empty. I guess most stay in their own apartments. Which is fine. I kinda' like doing that myself. I still have things to do in here to settle in. Need to clean out my dresser drawers, figure out my sewing area and how I want it, establish where I'm going to have certain things like my tools, my paperwork, my music, etc.
My brother is coming by this weekend or next week to help me get some things hung on walls. None of my mail has been forwarded yet so I'm hoping that's just the slowness of the postal service. Dinner tonight was hickory rubbed chicken quarters, grilled cabbage, carrot salad, corn cobbett and peach crisp. I did get what is left of my toilet collection on display in the bathroom. So many chores. Ha!
