Today I finished a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle that Jenni says I've done before but I didn't think I had. But she was right. Wow. That was some sentence structure. Ha! Anyhow, it was both hard and easy doing that puzzle because almost every piece would fit where I put it and I'd find out days later that it didn't go there after all. I hate that! Gives jigsaws a bad name. I put it away and looked over the others stacked in the closet and I think I've done them all except the one I grabbed for tomorrow called "Beer Caps." Very colorful.
I read a few pages of my latest book (Educated) but as usual, I had to stop and take a nap. So annoying. But I'll get through it. I've wondered if I was to drive to a beach and sit in my car to read if maybe I'd be more likely to not nod off. I'll have to think about doing that. I did paint up a few rocks and took them outside to spray gloss on them. I hope I sprayed enough as I plan to hide them around town once the rains quit. I still have more to paint but I put the supplies away for now and will pick up again later.
My cousin in Bellingham posted a picture of her mom, Lorraine Walker, working a jigsaw puzzle so I took one of me working on mine and posted it on FB.
I went outside a few nights back to take a picture of the mini lights I hung in my bedroom window. Saw this scarecrow posted out there too. I also took a picture of the tree budding outside my living room. Boring, I know, but it's all I got.
Dinner was kind of nice tonight. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green salad, and ice cream sundae. Most of the breakfasts and dinners are pretty good but every now and again, there's a dud. I guess you gotta' take the good with the bad.
Besides the poor construction of parts of the building (which I assume contributes to the loud door slams that rock my world up here) I like living here fine. Well, mostly. The manager is on a constant power trip and gets on my nerves 90% of the time. Her latest act (saving us from getting the virus) was to turn all the couch and chairs in the lobby around to face the wall so nobody can sit. She doesn't want us to "linger" but go from Point A to Point B.
I understand her need to use social distancing and have us eat in our rooms and not in the dining room but some of her other actions are extreme. The library and living room are quite large in size and there's no reason why a person (even one at a time) shouldn't be allowed to go in and get a book from the library shelves. Same with the activity room. It's full of jigsaw puzzles and videos and it wouldn't kill her to let somebody go in and choose one. This chair business just indicates how she needs to be in control. Most of the folks here are older and some need to come to the lobby to sit and wait for a ride or just to sit after walking around outside. The furniture is a good 12 feet or more apart and there's no reason for this latest rule she's posted.
She uses the virus as an excuse to ban things she doesn't feel are important. Like getting the old guys cable hooked up next door and fixing my malfunctioning oven. If she spent as much time helping others as she does in typing up, printing, and circulating new rules, the morale would be much better around here. I think she intimidates a lot of the tenants. Her personality goes from one extreme to the other at the drop of a hat. She can be very friendly and turn around and bite your head off. I'm documenting it all. Gotta do something while in quarantine. I got an email from the corporate office wanting me to fill out this questionaire on how my treatment was as I signed on as a tenant. It's pages long and I've put off replying until I can fill it out without using capital letters. I may never reach that point. I could run this place a whole lot better. Not bragging; just stating a fact.
There. I feel somewhat better already. Writing is good therapy when your kids are weary of hearing about it. Ha Ha
