Last week of April begins

Happy 12th Anniversary to Mary and Andy.
It's 9:40 a.m. and breakfast is late.  The meals are delivered at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. but never exactly at those times. It varies up and down.

I'm going to try out my new oven today and make a small apple pie. In hunting for the pie pans, I ended up tearing apart all the cupboards, worried that I didn't keep them. By the time I did find them, I knew that I needed to rearrange some shelf space.  Way too many large items in the small cupboards that need to go to a shelf in the closet.  Items I might use more frequently in my P.A. house but haven't felt the need here since my meals are prepared.  Not sure why it takes me so long to rethink the space available to me but when I "see the light" I'm always pleased with my decision. (it's the little things these days)

I finished my book yesterday. Educated by Tara Westover.  One of the best memoirs ever. Can't believe I was able to sit and keep on reading for a couple hours without needing a nap.  I hit the sack around 9:20 last night and was out like a light.  Got up at 6:30 but was still mighty tired so I catnapped in the recliner waiting for the CBS Sunday Show.

I took a hot shower, opened up the windows, and took a belated birthday gift down the hall to a favorite neighbor.  Plan on working the jigsaw a bit today but just a bit as I want to get going on another sewing project.  Have to start a new book too.

First, though, I have to get those apples peeled and in the oven.  More later.

Breakfast was tasty. I'll save the applesauce for dinner.  The menu says Waldorf salad, pork roast, cheesy hash browns, cut corn, and fruit cobbler.
I did get my apple pie in the oven. Used store bought crusts in the refrigerator section as it's easier and quicker. Probably not as good as my crust but I need my flour for cookies. haha   Ended up having to borrow cinnamon from a neighbor. Couldn't believe I was out as cinnamon is something I probably use more than any other spice. Which is why I was out. Trish was out too so she introduced me to Donna next door who does baking now and again. I'll take her a piece of pie as a thank you.
I am keeping a close eye on the  oven temp as I'm curious if this new used oven is any more accurate than the last one.

Browsed through one of the Readers Digest yesterday and cut out this  tip to try and remember:
To make your ink cartridges last longer, use fonts that were originally made for typewriters, such as Courier and Century Gothic. Use the "draft" option print and you'll use less ink.

Just checked my oven again.  I preheated to 400 and it went up to 425. I turned it down to 375 and it went up to 450.  Yep. Piece of shit!  Baking is definitely going to be a challenge here and I already see that the landlord isn't going to be sympathetic.  Such is life I suppose but it does make me fume!

I'm watching The Pioneer Woman cooking show right now.  I've always enjoyed her programs although her sweetsie weetsie voice can get on your nerves after a while. And who could make her recipes?  Way too expensive for my food budget, not to mention the cool kitchen gadgets and ovens she has at her disposal. Something relaxing about watching other people cook, I must admit.

More later (if anything interesting occurs)  which is unlikely.  Have a good Sunday.
