It's almost 3 pm and while I did get some sewing done, I didn't accomplish nearly as much as I planned. Other things got in the way.
I drove down to Henery Hardware to buy some of those sticky-back hooks to put here and there. You think of these things the longer you live in a small space. I wanted a handy place to hang my purse, my camera bag, my lanyard for the apartment keys, a nightgown, and my face mask. Thought they'd run around $3 or $4 but nope! When you're the only place in town open you can charge whatever you want and it cost me $11 for 6 plastic hooks. When I got to check-out, my debit card was declined. Say what?! Paid in cash and drove to the bank to see what was going on.
Another aggravation. Last week a First Federal clerk accidently closed all my accounts instead of the ONE that Mary directed her to close in her name. It was fixed but not quick enough to avoid problems. My AARP supplement (taken out of my account automatically) wouldn't work when they tried to do it at the same time it was closed. How ironic is that?! I had to pay by check and start the automatic withdrawal all over again. And when your account is closed, your Visa card that is tied to the bank, ceases to exist as well. Only you can't tell the bank to fix it. They have to send me a NEW
debit card but it won't be here for ten days. They did give me an ATM card that can be used right away with a machine but not in a store so I just had them give me cash so I'll have more than $6 in my wallet.
I came home and decided I had some more rearranging to get out of my system. I've been trying to avoid tv as I'm sick to death of hearing repeated stories of how we're all going to die or let's all give thanks to those people still working at their jobs to keep us safe. The music stations available to me have been hit and miss at satisfying me so I brought my portable radio/cd player to the living room area with all my CDs. About time I was playing them anyhow. Good music there.
It must be my week to be aggravated with gadgets as my Roku stick quit working on my tv yesterday and I NEED that stick! I had an older stick on my little tv in the bedroom so I brought it out here for the big set but it's super slow and I'm not in the mood. Ordered a new one on Amazon and it should arrive this weekend. I'll have to keep track of its arrival so I can make sure the manager here isn't holding it in a safe place. She's taken it upon herself to hold our packages for 24 hours to protect us from the virus. And yes, we had words about that too!
This afternoon I took a picture of what I've been sewing so I could post on my blog and lo and behold, another gadget is refusing to accommodate me. I plug my camera into my laptop to download photos but it wouldn't work today and I had no idea what to do. Called the granddaughter in Kent and she's always so patient with me in panic mode and explained how I could get my pictures off using the little card instead of a cord. Can't think of what that card is called. I couldn't figure out where to stick it in the side of my laptop as the thing I kept pushing wouldn't open. Took a picture to send her and then I realized the slot was on the other side of the laptop and I was pushing the volume button. Love it when I realize yet again that I'm a half step behind.
Well, I got the kitchen mopped and the first row of my "virus quilt" sewn together. I'm calling it that because I'm forced to use any material I have on hand. Some of the backing pieces are old curtains. Nothing is going to match but I don't care. It'll probably be something I use for myself anyhow. Here's the front and back of the first row across.
Looks pretty pathetic at this point but it'll be one of a kind, if nothing else. Ha!
