Just Hanging in

Things were much better for me today than yesterday. Still had that dang hip pain at 2 but I have a routine down pat now where I head to the recliner.  Not an ideal situation for a good nights' sleep but I can adapt as need be when this ole bod keeps reminding me she's wearing out.

I worked on my genealogy files again and am fairly satisfied with what I accomplished.  Have my three-ring binders divided by various families and my notes are more organized than before. I've put them away in the closet all nice and tidy but I do have one family that I'll have to get back to sooner or later. Have to be in the mood as it is so complicated to interpret the data.  That's my Grandpa Gene's mother, Jane Downs from Delaware.  I was in contact with this one lady back east who I "think" gave me a lot of correct data but I'm not positive yet.  No matter what name you're working on, there are going to be several people from different families with that name and it's easy to get lost.

Just for fun today I put in my name and data  in ancestry.com but all that came up was my marriage certificate, my application to get the license, and various city directories showing where I lived.  Now that I think about it, though, it only showed two PT addresses. Rose St and San Juan.  I'm not old enough to show up in a census yet. At least not one you can look at. They don't release them until 72 years have passed. Which totally irks the hell out of me!  I can look at 1950 in two years so I'm staying alive for that.  Not that it will show much but still....I'm looking forward to seeing daughter Joyce age 7.

I looked on IMDB to see if the books I'm reading are available via movies. Two of them are --The Emigrants with Max von Sydow and Liv Ullman and  The New Land. I've seen the Emigrants twice but will watch again as it's so good. It rents for $1.99 and the other rents for $3.99.  Yesterday a movie arrived that I ordered from ebay.  Sally Field's 'Maybe I'll come home in the spring.' I know I've seen it before; it's a tv movie but it was cheap and after reading about it in her book, I wanted to see it again.

I did a load of laundry at 8 am and ran to Safeway at 10 or 11 to pick up about five items. After I finished with the notebooks, I sat down to read and I should get that book done today or tomorrow. My Friday plans are to get going on rock painting.  A notice came around that the manager is starting up bingo games again.  But I'm not interested. Her plans are to allow only six people to play and you have to sign up. If you don't make the cut, you have to try next week.  That's so lame!  They have plenty of room in that activities room and table space to have more than six people sitting six feet apart.  As my neighbor down the hall has pointed out, what about all the tenants who don't play bingo? What does she plan to help them stay entertained.  The tv room and library and pool room are all still locked and they're plenty big enough to allow folks in. Makes no sense. I'm just thankful I have my own interests and my own car and my own friends so I can carry on with my life. A lot of these old folks don't have any of that -- and they need it!

Well, I just read something on the Coast to Coast website I look at now and then that I want to check out on Youtube.  Hacking the Afterlife. I'm interested in all that hocus pocus. I like to listen to the late night talk show they have on the radio but more often than not, I fall asleep during commercials. Tonight they're talking about UFOs and Big Foot. Those interest me too!

Here's an interesting picture I saw on Facebook the other day....the building of the plaza downtown.
Have kept the tv off  (except for music) all day long. Just can't take the repeat repeat repeat of all the dysfunction and hate everywhere.
