Last Monday of June

Summer is here. Funny how the seasons change in importance or significance depending on your age. As a kid, summer was the best time as it meant sunny days riding my bike and playing and no school.
Spring meant the carnival was coming to town and school was letting us free for three months. Fall meant my birthday, Halloween trick or treating, and school starting up again. Even though I loved getting out for the summer, going back was even better. Winter was Christmas presents and hoping for snow and maybe even getting to play on the frozen swamp.

Jump ahead fifty years: summer makes me hope it doesn't get too hot. Spring is watching the birds and flowers grow. Fall is groaning over another birthday making me wonder how I lived this long, and winter is higher heating bills and hating the way my body aches in the cold. And definitely hoping it doesn't snow or get icy as I'm too timid to drive on white roads.

This Monday morning I just finished reading the paper online, working the crossword online, and surfing Facebook online. I have to wash my dishes in stages as the sink area is small and compact but that's okay as I don't like to be on my feet for too long a time anyhow.  My bananas on the counter were way softer to the touch than I thought so I whipped up a quick banana bread. Need to get more potassium, I think, as I've had calf cramps in bed the last two nights. Damn cramps!  Guess I have to drink more water although I feel I drink enough. And I've made sure to take potassium and magnesium tablets too so what's the deal with those cramps?!

Jenni is coming by at 1 on her way back from Silverdale today. Looking forward to that.  I had Barbara Shaw over for a couple hours yesterday.  Plans for today are to work on the latest jigsaw puzzle I've set up. It's 12x36 so I had to find an area to work on it that would also allow me to have the pieces on a nearby board and not take up space on my table here in the living room.
I managed to figure it out. Opened up the table in the kitchen and moved a chair in there to sit on. I also rearranged my bedroom a bit (it's what I do) to make more room for sewing. I like it better.

I do plan on doing a little sewing today (piecing crumb quilt pieces) but that's about it as I've put away my rock painting until I finish the puzzle. Am reading two books - The Settlers and Fatal.
Waiting for breakfast to arrive so guess I'll set this blog post aside and add to it later in the day.

Later .... breakfast was good. One piece of french toast, one egg, two bacon, canned pears.  I did a bit of sewing and then got tired and took a nap. Seems to happen more frequently but then other times I can go for days and not need a nap.  Jenni got here a little after one. The bridge was open for boats on the way back so she was delayed.
I signed up for Passport on the PBS channel yesterday as I was getting discouraged with the stuff the other channels on roku were offering. Glad I did as there's a ton of good stuff on there and it only costs $5 a month. Last night I watched a special about Loretta Lynn. Very good too.

Jenni clued me in on all these podcasts you can listen to on I heart Radio. Amazing how much  is out there that I was unaware of.  Looking forward to surfing through to find what I like.

Ahhh... finally figured out how to post a video on here. Got this in an email from Les Walden and it's quite good.
