No one threw a party for my anniversary

Yesterday was my three month anniversay of moving in here -- and not one person remembered.  haha  Including me!

Mary posted this on her Facebook page today and it cracked me up.

Today’s writing lesson was picking a problem in the World they would like to solve. This was Jake’s. I swear, I did NO prompting. ❤️😂

I made two quick runs in the car today. One to deposit a check at the bank and another to meet my sister in the park and ride parking lot so I could pick up some yarn she was gifting.

Various body parts --all from the waist down meaning feet, low back, and hips have been causing me grief off and on the past few days. Well, actually ...for years but seems to be more intense lately. Anyhow, I'm finding it necessary to use my walking stick and/or cane to just get from the apartment to my car and even then, it can be a damn struggle.  I remember my dad refusing to use his walker for a long time (vanity I think) and I was always urging him to be easier on himself. It is so much easier to walk with a walker -- especially the kind I have now with four wheels and a seat.

But even so, I find myself thinking "I'll do just fine with my cane".  And then I don't do just fine!  One lady here walks the halls upstairs and down from one end to the other to get her exerise and I keep telling myself I should do that too!  She's a thin lady and doesn't need a walker and gets along at a pretty brisk pace.  All I need to do is START! I know it would become a habit I enjoyed once I got off my butt and started moving!  I did do it a little while ago but just my floor. I didn't have my most comfortable shoes on and that's going to have to be a priority.  I have at least three pair of shoes that should be comfortable. They certainly look comfortable but they're not!  I try wearing each of them a little bit every day to break them in but so far, I don't feel like I'm making much progress. I'll keep trying, though. I'm not really in the mood to buy another pair of shoes. Ones I'd only have to break in!

I'm continuing to read my Sally Field book and finding it quite interesting and more than a little shocking in a few places too.  I've started writing about my grandparents (to have a writing project) and have finished with John and Lillian Nisbet, my mother's adoptive parents. Tomorrow I'll start on her biological folks.  People she never met.  I think it will be more fun for me to work on their stories as I did meet a nephew of my grandmother before he died and he and his wife filled in some blanks and gave me lots of photos. I'll always be thankful for that.

I've decided to start using my my material supply (down to one bin) and am going to make these various quilt patterns in a favorite book I have.  I did the first one this afternoon and as usual, I'm disgusted with my color choices.  I just haven't got the eye to see what looks good together. I think I must have inherited that from my mother as I recall her sewing choices were usually a tad off the wall.
Here's my Dolley Madison star....

Watched an old 1976 movie on VHS last night called MIDWAY. Starred Heston, Fonda, Coburn, Holbrook, Mitchum, Robertson, Wagner, Ed Nelson, and Glenn Ford. You just can't beat those old war pictures. As much as there is to choose from on Prime, Hulu, Netflix and Disney+, I still often have a hard time finding something that I really really want to see.

I think I'm going to join the Jefferson County Genealogy Society once things open up around here. I need to get involved in at least something -- even if it will cost me $25 a year dues. They must need volunteers to do odds and ends and that kind of thing would interest me.

Well, I think I'm going to break down and make some cupcakes now. My kitchen isn't the easiest place to prepare recipes and my oven is a total piece of shit but I've got it in my head that I want white cupcakes.  Maybe I'll make bran muffins later in the week. I do need to try out my new muffin pans that Jenni got me for mothers day.

Here's my Facebook picture for the day.  Says it all.
