Taking it Easy Today

Yesterday I drove to Sequim with three neighbor ladies. One had a doctor appt but she has dementia too so I was a little apprehensive as we left and I asked her if she had the clinic's address.  No, she said, it's right there on 5th avenue. You know, the medical clinic. I told her all of 5th Avenue is Medical Clinics now and I got lost myself last time I was trying to find the right building I needed.  She also didn't remember her doctor's name. Sigh....  We left and I hoped for the best.  She said her friend, Alene, was going to pick her up and we could probably pick her up at her house at 2 pm.  She didn't know the address and she didn't know Alene's last name but she had her number and gave it to me. I called it while my friend was still in the car but Peggy answered and said she didn't know Alene's number. Sigh.... I dropped off my friend and the rest of us continued on our errands. Dollar Tree Store and Goodwill. On the way back to the clinic, my phone rings and it's Alene. The lady had called another lady to see if they could locate her.  Anyhow, Alene gave me directions to her house and thankfully, it was more or less across the street from the clinic and easy to find. The three of us sat in the car for about 10 or 15 minutes while they visited inside and I had Alene take our picture. I should have had everyone get out of the car but it was way too much trouble.

We had gone to Walmart first. I only needed about 4 or 5 items, one being a curtain rod. The local hardware store wanted $8 (simple rod) but WM had the same thing for $2.97 so I picked that up along with a pillow. Was hoping I could train my body to sleep with two pillows so my sinuses weren't such a mess every morning.  We didn't stop to eat anywhere but then I wasn't really hungry anyhow. I had skipped breakfast so just waited until dinner came around at 4:30.  Besides not being to walk very well the entire day, I discovered when I got home that I was exhausted.  I took a quick nap in the recliner but was so tired, I made myself get up as I knew I could sleep through until 7 and then I'd never get to sleep.  I decided to do a load of laundry at 6:30 as I figured no one would be using the machines at that hour.

This morning I sewed a few more of the small quilt squares together and next I'll begin the process of pressing them all. Dready job but makes putting the quilt together easier.  I did find a large bag of batting at Goodwill so maybe I'll make some fluffier quilts with the material I'm working on now.

I ran to the library at 10 this morning to pick up a book I had on reserve and another Stephen King audio book that I'll listen to while sewing or doing a puzzle.  There was no one at the door except me but the librarian insisted she had to put my books on the table, couldn't just hand them to me.  Irritating a bit as I had just spent the previous days in various stores where my merchandise was handed to me. I guess everybody looks at this whole virus problem differently.  I heard on the tv this morning that the latest thing they think we might to do is wear two masks.  And there will be those folks who obey and believe everything they hear on television.

I stopped at Penny Saver Market after the library to pick up my mega ticket for tonight. Their website says it's worth a billion unless you take the cash option. Can you imagine winning that much money?!  Even if I only get four numbers, that's still $500.  I'd be fine with that.  As I came up the S curve and turned on Sheridan, I was surprised to see a line of cars three blocks long waiting to turn into the road that goes down to the vaccination area. My sister texted me this morning that she was told to keep calling everyday but there's no telling when she'll get her shot. She's 74.  I'm very thankful (and surprised) that shots were arranged here for all of us so we didn't have to go through that. Of course a lot of the residents here have dementia and probably wouldn't even know how to begin to sign up.

Until I can find the curtains I want, I'm going to have to settle for hanging a large quilt piece in the window to block out the glare from the building across the way. Seems like my eyes just cannot tolerate sunlight anymore. I wonder if I should worry about that.  Might as well; I worry about everything else!

And here's two FB things I saw recently and liked....
I think I'm gonna print this one out and enclose it in Mary Gaboury's birthday card next week. Mainly because of the crazy car rides we took on snowy winter night as teenagers.  We're lucky to be alive. Ha!
And she'll like this next one too so I'll print it off also.
