February is winding down

Just finished dinner. A bowl of stew, piece of cornbread, and a cream puff. Guess which one was my favorite? Only four more days of meals and then I'll be on my own again.

I think it was around 6 a.m. when I went from my bed to my recliner to finish my sleep but I soon headed back to bed again 'cause I was cold. Didn't realize until 8 am that there was frost on the building roof. Apparently, we're going to get some more cold temps. Maybe  even snow flurries. Whatever.

I've been dealing with fatigue for a while now but today I was determined to not take a morning and if possible, not an afternoon nap either.  I had to keep busy and one of the things on my to-do list was to see how much I could downsize. Meaning -- toss out.  I try to keep the things I bring in here at a minimum and I've been doing okay, for the most part.  I have three bins of material, craft supplies, and sewing stuff but that's really good compared to what I used to have in Port Angeles.  And besides, I need all that for my peace of mind! haha

I had nine rocks in my closet that my daughter, Sue, had collected for me months ago. Actually, her and Paul brought me a large box of rocks and I was down to just nine left. They were all painted white and set aside until I was ready to finish them up. I needed to get that closet in order so I sat down to work on the rocks. They turned out pretty good so I carried them out to my car this afternoon so I can hide them around town whenever I'm out and about.  Or I'll just give to people.

Once I had them on my window sill (with the window wide open) I sprayed them and closed the bedroom door so the smell wouldn't invade the rest of the apartment.  Then I started work on my cookbooks.  I've made several cookbooks over the years and the first ones were typed on a typewriter.  I took them apart and put all the pages including one other cookbook into a red 3-ring binder. I also printed off any recipes I had stored on my computer. It was kind of fun.

I had three booklets I'd saved too and I couldn't quite bring myself to throwing them out because two of them had dates of 1957 and 1960.  They deserved to live.

Other pictures I wanted to post include these:
Granddaughter Catie (the real crafter in the family) is into waterpaints now and has sent me some postards. Which I love getting.

Mary sent me a picture of Poppy that Andy took so of course, I had to share that.
Andy shared this next picture on his Facebook picture of a hen found protecting kittens during a storm.
And a cartoon I found funny.....
And a big ole salute to my cousin in Bellingham, Ilene Wailand.  She found a pickup truck for my daughter, Susan, to buy and is driving it to the ferry at Whidbey Island so Sue can walk on the ferry from Port Townsend to pick it up and drive back to Port Angeles. It's a '97 Ford Ranger.

The activity director asked me today if I would be the photographer when they have this event where people will dress up in various costumes. That should be fun.

Tomorrow I'm picking up my pal, Judi Robbins, so she can see my apartment.  I might have her cut my hair while she's here too. A new curling iron I ordered arrived today (smaller than my old one) and I was hoping it would give me tighter curls and maybe my hair would be presentable for longer than 20 minutes!  I don't think it's gonna do the trick, though, so I may just get it cut short and get it over with!

Mary just sent me a picture of Jake learning to draw using Youtube. Her caption was: Do I need to be concerned?  hahahahah   Actually, I think his drawings are pretty impressive for a 7-year-old.

Well, I guess I'll go get my jammies on now.  Hard to believe that March 7 is close at hand -- my one year anniversary of moving in. I went to read my diary notation for that day and one of the things I wrote was "...and the food is great!."    haha
I should go back and proofread this before publishing but I'm too tired so sorry for any typos.
