March is finally upon us

Next Sunday will mark my one year living here and today marks the day that I'm opting out of  having my meals delivered to me.  I am so happy about that. Some days the menu was okay but other days it was just plain pathetic. More than that, though, is the cost added on to my rent. It kept me poor and I can now breathe a little easier.

Since my oven has never worked properly, I invested in this appliance that I'm sure is going to be a treasure. It not only bakes but it air frys, broils, toasts, and warms. I'm going to read the booklet tonight and see if I can feel comfortable with it. I also ordered a set of pans to use in it.

I tried out some coffee creamer I got at the food bank last week and while I doubted I was going to like it, much to my surprise, it tastes just fine. I plan on maybe going to the food bank once a month. Saturdays are for seniors and they give away a ton of food.

My daughter, Mary, came to PT on Saturday for a birthday party so we got to spend a couple of hours together before she headed out. She brought me a whole bunch of tops (love them!) that she's outgrown. She also gave me a McDonalds and Safeway gift card and a freezer and pantry full of food. Such a good daughter.  And I so appreciate it!

When her friend, Candi, came to pick her up, they walked over to my car to pick out a painted rock. Candi's BMW convertible was running and when she shut the door, it locked!  It's not supposed to do that. 40 minutes later she ended up buying an insurance policy for towing over the phone from the dealer in Fife. Then they electronically opened the car door. Oh, our techy world today!

Notice how skinny Mary is getting? She's lost 67 pounds!  And she's also going to be a substitute teacher in the Issaquah district. She's a busy girl.

Here's pictures of  her gang, masked and unmasked at the party at Adelma Beach.

Judi Robbins came over to visit me a few days ago and was nice enough to give me a haircut. I so needed it.

I went out riding around the old neighborhood a few days back and sometimes I just have to go by my old house to look at the changes.  The neighbors who built a big two-story (in grandpa's garden) now have a fence erected too. Here's the side yard where my bedroom window was and another picture of the area when my dad and his twin lived there as teenagers.

I took my sister to get her first covid shot this afternoon. Took about an hour and a half in the car so I took a picture of Manresa Castle.  I also took one of trees outside her window as they showed pink flowers blooming. You can't really see the flowers too well with my cell phone camera, though.

Tomorrow morning early I'm heading down to the bus depot by Safeway as daughter Sue is coming in from Port Angeles. I'll take her down to the ferry so she can walk on and meet her cousin on the other side who will have a pick up truck to buy.  Later that morning I have a quick appt. with my dermatologist. Thankfully I got in as it usually takes weeks. I told them I only needed five minutes. Just need to have someone who knows skin to look at my lower legs and tell me what in the hell is going on. Terrible splotchy rash on both of them.  I half expect to be told it's psoriasis as I've had that problem for years but it doesn't actually look like the patches I've had in other places and why is it showing up this late in my life and only on my lower legs. I've never had it there.  If it is psoriasis, they call it an autoimmune disease and there isn't a lot you can do for it most of the time.  I could post some pictures as I'm taking shots of my legs all the time but I don't want to ruin your day. haha

I watched the Golden Globe Awards last night and that will probably be the last time. What a waste of  air time. And shame on me for keeping it on all the way through. It was awful!

I heard we lost a resident today (from cancer) but I don't think she came out of her room often as I don't recall ever meeting her. Another lady down the hall had a stroke and won't be coming back.  Life is damn hard sometimes.

I've set up my card table to work on another jigsaw puzzle. Probably won't get to it today, though. Too tired. Think I'll also start sewing little crumb pieces together as my bag of scraps is starting to fill up.  We're supposed to be getting new carpeting in the hallways on March 6th. I think the carpet looks fine but it's probably been here since the place was built. Nothing much on my calendar to speak of for March but it's early.  March is usually a month of significant events in my life. I always wonder when March comes around if that will be the case again.

And that's about it for today.
