Getting back to my Blog

Been over a week since I posted so I think I'll try to get back on track today. Not that I have much to yak about but I've already covered that subject.  It's 9 a.m. and I've been up for 2-1/2 hours. Watched the CBS Morning Show and was interested in the lead story about how houses are selling like crazy all across the country.  Mary and Andy made a good decision, I think. They've already had 30 people sign up for tours and got one offer (but they'll wait just a bit to see whatever else comes up).

You can sure tell they worked hard getting the place ready. Place looks empty and ready for new folks.

I watched  a great documentary on Amy Tan last night. Netflix. I intend to read her books now. Mary just called and poor Maddie.  She had come over from Wenatchee to visit Mary and Andy at the motel and swim in the pool with Jake. He loves it when Maddie comes. Anyhow, during the night, her car was jacked. Meaning they stole the cataylytic converter (big bucks to replace). Luckily, the motel was right next door to a car place so she drove there to find out what was going on. I'd seen on the news a while back about how those converters were being stolen across the US as they were in big demand on the black market.  You have to be 25 to rent a car so Mary is thinking of maybe letting Maddie have hers until the car is repaired.  Such a shame. I hate thieves!  This was at the Hilton in Bellevue.

Jake had his last football game yesterday.  Mary says he's very good at throwing the ball in a spiral and the coach often uses him for the quarterback but Jakes prefers to play defense so he can tackle people haha

Looking forward to June 4th when I will finally get in to see my new doctor. Been waiting since February and I'm hoping she will give me a cortisone shot for my hip (or maybe both hips?)  I also expect to be referred to another doctor for the continuing numbness I'm experiencing in my left fingers.

At the end of June, some of my classmates will attend the memorial for Mike Logue and that will be our 60th reunion this year.  Looking forward to seeing a few new faces along with some from the class one year behind us.

My usual activities are about the same -- sewing, reading, jigsaw puzzles, television, and rock painting. Joanne Gilles gave me about 15 large bags of material and I'm excited to see what I can make with it. There's way too much for me, though, so I'm offering it up to anybody who wants some. It's all holiday themed -- Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter, Valentines Day, St. Patricks, and 4th of July. Here's just a portion of my stash now.

I finished a quilt for my bed yesterday and was so happy to have that done -- mistakes and all! It doesn't have batting inside as I just wanted something to cover the bed and cheer up the room. The one I had on there was old and starting to get torn in places.I used the long table downstairs in the living room/tv room to pin it together.
One of the things on my to-do list today is to continue reading the family history posts I'd been posting on my blog earlier. I've read a dozen posts so far and found errors in every single one. So much for my typing ability.

Was sorry to hear that one of my Facebook friends died a couple weeks back. Mary McMahon Lopeman. She was in the 1965 class and while I didn't know her real well, I certainly did like her -- and she had a great talent at making quilts. Sad to hear of classmates passing and it seems to be happening more frequently these days. Here she is at an alumni reunion at the Elks Club in 2015 with Linda Johnson, her close friend.

Well, golf comes on in 15 minutes so that's gonna be my off and on activity for this Sunday in May.  A time when the Rhody Festival would be in process if the world wasn't so screwed up.
