The Day after Memorial Day

It's 3:30 in the afternoon.  I haven't really accomplished a lot today but that's okay. I do whatever I want to do these days.  I did begin work on my box of crumb quilt scraps and started sewing them together. Tedious job but it goes fast and every time you sew the first bunch, the second day your pieces are larger and it goes even quicker.  Probably going to make a couple more bags.

I also dug out a stack of material in the closet. Chose the 4th of July theme batch as I'm going to see if the material will work for pillow cases.  It might if I wash the material first.  I saw a video on youtube about making these really neat cases and I remember I've done them before and they look pretty sharp.  That may end up being a few Xmas presents this year too.  It's getting harder and harder to complete my gift lists as most of the folks on my list already have too much junk and don't need more.  Ha!

I sat down with my 1000-pc jigsaw puzzle and managed to get the border done. Then I sat forever trying to find two lousy pieces.  The whole thing is faces of country music stars and I thought it would be fun. Well, I was wrong. I put it back in the box. If I'm going to do a puzzle, it had better let me have fun doing it.  I got out another of 750 pieces and while it will probably take me a while I am planning to be more patient with this one. Then I'm going to start thinning down my collection as I can use the shelf space. I'm going up to Port Angeles on the 9th so I'll take a bunch then as several of these are Jenni's.

Mary is coming over this Saturday and will bring back the fold-up bike I gave her last year. I thought about trying to ride it again but I have to be realistic and realize there are certain activities I just better avoid doing.  Sure did love this bike, though. I'll probably try to sell in online.
I was cleaning out my sewing table drawer the other day and came across all these little gadgets that came with my machine and I've never used. I need to study how to use them as I'm betting they're something I can use regularly. I started reading my manual and discovered two of the pieces were for winding my bobbin so I didn't have to take the spool off the machine that I was already using. Hate it when I don't pay attention.

I've got a couple of fans going and it's not really that uncomfortable in here. Maybe it will get hotter as the day goes on. I hear tomorrow might be warmer too. I don't really care for high temps. Makes my feet swell and my energy level slump. Catie and her friends are coming by tomorrow on her way back from camping so I think I'll have them help me load the car with the puzzle and other things I need to take to P.A. next week.  Mary G and I are going to stop by Jen's and she needs to go to a bank in Sequim. We'll also hit the casino on the way home and have lunch.

I bought a Hit5 ticket to play for ten draws last week and so far I've won $30 on it. That doesn't usually happen.  Friday is my doctor appt. Been waiting since Feb to get in and my appt is only 20 minutes and isn't until 4:30 in the afternoon.  Something tells me I'm not going to get to discuss everything on my list. More than likely, she'll just refer me to another doctor anyhow. Seems to be the way things are done these days.

Never heard a word from the maintenance guy today about when he's coming to replace the good for nothing stove in this apt. It's full of mold in the oven and the heating element on the top in the oven goes on and off on its own. I don't use it at all.   He was supposed to be power cleaning the outside of the building today but I never heard the machine running so maybe that'll be tomorrow.  I took down my hummingbird feeder as I suspected management has decided (after a year) that they don't want residents putting them up on their outside window. Whatever.

I started reading a book called Pontoon by Garrison Keillor. Hilarious.  I'm also reading Girl of the Limberlost, a book I read as a child and loved.

Well, whatever else I was going to yak about has gone right out of my head so I don't suppose it was worth mentioning anyhow. Have a restful week.
