Who is the best example of a Covid denier who later changed their mind?
Tony Green was a COVID denier. He referred to the
pandemic as a “scamdemic” and refused to wear a mask. On June 13th of 2020, he
and his partner hosted a house party where reportedly no one wore masks. He
hasn’t said how many people were in attendance.
Green felt sick the next day. Two days later, his partner
and his parents did as well. His partner's parents were not sick immediately
and went to Austin for the birth of their first grandchild. Two other family
members accompanied them.
Everyone on the Austin trip, including the newborn’s
parents, fell ill with COVID. To make a long, sad story short, 14 people
associated with the house party contracted coronavirus. Green’s father-in-law’s
mother died. The next day, the father-in-law was put on a ventilator.
To say that Green feels horrible about what happened
would be a huge understatement.
Don’t take it from me. Here is what Mr. Green has to say
about the matter:
You cannot imagine the guilt I feel, knowing that I
hosted the gathering that led to so much suffering. You cannot imagine my guilt
at having been a denier, carelessly shuffling through this pandemic, making fun
of those wearing masks, and social distancing. You cannot imagine my guilt at
knowing that my actions convinced both our families it was safe when it wasn’t.
For those who deny the virus exists or who downplay its
severity, let me assure you: The coronavirus is very real and extremely
contagious. Before you even know you have it, you’ve passed it along to your
friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors.
He continued:
To ignore or question the validity of this virus, its
contagiousness, or the consequences of selfish attitudes is — at this stage —
completely stupid.
I am calling myself out first, but now this is personal, and I fell on my sword. And I promise you, if we continue being more worried about the disruption to our lives than we are about stopping this virus, not one American will be spared.
AND….
What do you think about those refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine saying, “I trust my immune system”?
Meet John Eyers: John Eyers was a fit and healthy man who
enjoyed bodybuilding and mountain climbing, his family said“ He thought if he
contracted Covid-19 he would be OK. He thought he would have a mild illness. He
didn’t want to put a vaccine on his body.”
Fit, healthy 42-year-old father who refused vaccine dies
of Covid ‘wishing he had listened’
Sister urges vaccine hesitant to reconsider after warning
brother ‘thought he would be ok’ if he caught virus. Four weeks before he was
hospitalized he was mountain climbing…four weeks later he was gone!!
It does not matter what I think….John is still DEAD!!
Vaccines WORK!!
Also:
It’s nice to have an immune system you can trust.
But how do you know? Immune systems can be a bit shifty.
One day they work. The next day I’ve got the man flu. Maybe yours is different?
The Corona Virus is new to the world. It is called,
“novel” because our immune systems have never seen it before—any of us. Nope,
that stuff you got while in the Navy isn’t this. This is really new.
Sure, your body fights off the flu. You get a cold once
in a while. You deal with seasonal allergies with Claritin, but you’re healthy
as a horse, right?
The beginning of the COVID-19 crisis began and what
happened? All of these humans died. They had strong immune systems, just like
yours and theirs said, “fuck it. I’m out.”
Since then, more than 600,000 Americans have stepped into
the ring with COVID only to tap out with nobody to tag to help fight it off.
We’re now approaching two years of dealing with this.
And, if you are still reading this, perhaps you are right. You’ve either
avoided contact which is hard to believe at this point, or, your immune system
may be up to the challenge… so far…enter COVID-19, Variant Delta…
You survived “easy COVID”. Good for you. You may have
even caught it and fought it and are still reading. You’re superman. Except,
you’re not. People are catching COVID multiple times! The immunity that you
gained from fighting it off isn’t lasting and you can catch it again. I’ve
talked to some survivors. They feel lucky they lived. They don’t seem willing
to step back into the ring for rounds 2 or 3.
And the science is now in. Your homegrown immunity is not
protecting you as well as the vaccines. The vaccines are providing greater
coverage and protection than natural immunity. The Delta variant is the Hulk
Hogan of COVID. The good news? The vaccines are tossing him out of the ring.
Sure, some vaccinated folks are still catching COVID, but their experience is
much more like fighting the flu and not like fighting THE HULK. Most are not
hospitalized. Most suffer mildly for a few days and return to work without
complications.
From the peak of Mount Fuckup, we received the first
vaccines and millions of us chose to stop asking our immune systems to fight
the Hulk. We chose to let the vaccine fight for us. And, look what happened to
our numbers. That is a Double-Black Diamond ski run down the slope! That is a
Six Flags, hands-in-the-air butt-puckering super-coaster big-assed drop! That
is exactly what vaccines are supposed to do. We stopped dying.
Well… many of us, anyway. See the ski jump at the bottom
of the hill? That’s about where Delta emerged and started to spread. That was
enough to kick in some holdouts and they got vaccinated, causing a further
decline. And look how close we were to the true bottom. We were almost there,
folks.
But that hill at the end is something I call, “The
foothills of Mount Fuckmore”. That is all you. That is the people who still
think that they can beat the Hulk. Those are the people filling hospital beds
and, sadly, the morgues.
Because those of us with the vaccine? It looks like we
are going to be attending your funerals for a long time to come. We aren’t
dying. Not like those of you who still think you are superman. Do you think
you’d get vaccinated if you could see COVID molecules in the air? If it was a
visible threat?
It would be easy to sit back and watch your ambulance
drive away. Instead, I just spent 25 minutes typing this response to the
question because I still care enough about you to try to present that last bit
of thought that changes your mind. I won’t even know if you listened. I’m still
here trying.
When you are dead and gone, the only thing that is left
of your argument is another tick mark on a graph that didn’t need to be there.
And really, that tick mark is just one more reason to listen to me… but I can’t
tell you I told you so. You’re just a tick mark.
The shot does nothing for the dead. And if the vaccine
was going to cause us to become magnetic zombies, we would have seen the
zombies stuck to road signs by now, right? So that’s no longer an excuse. And
really, who hasn’t dreamed about being magnetic! (you won’t become magnetic).
Please get the shot. Every day you wait could be one of
your last two days on earth.
I’m fully vaccinated so I’ll be here to respond to your
silly arguments if you are still healthy enough to write them.
