Sunday Fatigue

I really want to take a nap but golf is pretty good today and I have to see who wins.  I did manage to get a few half triangles sewn, cut, pressed, snipped, and stacked ready to continue in a couple days. Not tomorrow as I have to go to Silverdale for a doctor appt. One I'm not looking forward to 'cause I'm sure it's going to hurt. (nerve conduction test)  But I'll survive.  It has been so long since I've driven to the mall over there that even leaving the county is giving me a little anxiety. Not enough to make me not go but enough for me to realize I need to get out of town more often and quit being such a weenie baby.

I have another doctor appt the following two mornings, as well, but they're both just down the street. I'm not really looking forward to them either but at least I'll be happier when they're behind me.

I made up a rice salad this morning. Decided my menus were getting a tad boring and I needed to pull out my cookbook and make some things I used to make more often. Of course that meant having to shop and I do not like grocery shopping even a little bit. Am liking it less every time what with masks and high prices.  My rice dish (cold) has fake crab in it, green onion, green pepper, Worces. sauce, ketchup, mayo, and Johnny Seafood Seasoning. It's pretty tasty.  I also bought ingredients to make pigs in a blanket, enchiladas, and a couple other things I can't remember now.

Went to the Elks at 4 pm yesterday with Mary G so we could attend Mary McMahon Lopeman's memorial. It was a nice gathering. I posted a couple dozen pics on Facebook.  I'm listening to Jodi Picoult's book "House Rules" while I sew.  Excellent read. I plan on reading all her stuff. I wrote her a a fan letter and she actually answered. I appreciated that.  Her favorite author is Alice Hoffman so I'm reading one of hers now.  I finished "Plain Truth" by Jodi a few days ago. Loved it.

The quilt I'm working on now is half triangles. It's a slow process although I learned a quick way to make them on Youtube.

I continue to watch Youtube in the evenings. Loving it so much. I watch them until I find myself nodding off. Always sooner than I want to go to bed.  I especially like that I can watch them on tv from my computer.  I get hooked on some of the dance contests, the music programs, dog videos, cooking, sewing, and health hints.  I'm taking notes like crazy in my quest to try and stay alive a little bit longer. Last night I wrote down the things that are orange and will make you healthier --oranges (not juice), oolong tea, carrots, apple cider vinegar (1 to 2 Tablespoons a day in water), pumpkin, cantaloupe, sweet potatoes, and curry powder.

I also learned that the breads you need to eat are whole grains, 100% whole wheat, rye, barley, oat, quinoa and sprouted breads. Oh yeah, and sourdough.  Things that will make your blood sugar better are sesame seeds and oil, kimchi, Vit B's, garlic, pomegranate and juice and L-arginine.

Another video said to eat okra, java plums, fenu greek seeds, mangoes, and bitter melons. Most of them I've never heard of.

I've been thinking about what I'm going to keep busy with this winter and it's pretty much the same thing as last winter. I do plan on researching more genealogy websites, though, and I'm super excited about that. Also intend to get some writing done, lots more books read, and I've been watching vidoes on different ways to paint rocks. I also plan to get out my watercolor paints and tackle that. And of course, there's always sewing.  I learn so much on Youtube about techniques and tools you can use. And of course, I spot all kinds of fun toys I think I need to sew with too.  My space limits how  big my sewing projects are but that's okay. I like a challenge. Now that I have a scanner, I plan on finding new things to scan and share online too.

I've been seriously considering it may be time for me to talk hip replacement with the orthopedic guy I'm seeing on Tuesday. Even depending on my walker is getting on and off helpful. Some days I'm good to go and other days I just hurt something awful.  I know. Me and every other old lady in town.  I'm a big obit reader and I'm finding the first thing I glance at is when they were born. Way too many of them are MY AGE or younger.  But nothing I can do about that.

I'm seriously thinking about making a new blog. Haven't been pleased with the help blogger doesn't give you when you want to change something.  It will mean having to read more directions but I'm determined to give it a try.  The most popular and easiest website I think is wordpress.

I was going to go visit my old classmate, Doris LaChance who lives in an assisted living place in Kirkland but I found out that place closed and now she's in s. Seattle. That's too far for my friend Ann to drive (I'd have to walk on the ferry for her to pick me up) so I think I'll just send Doris this gift I bought her via the mailman. Just hate it that I'm afraid to drive in Seattle but it is what it is and I have to depend on others to take me.

Here's a cute cartoon I saw on FB.....
