It was a hard day

Anytime I have something out of the ordinary on my agenda, I manage to work myself up into a really fun stage of DIARRHEA.  It's just delightful.  And what's really sad is that what I was anxious about was basically not that big a deal. Heaven help me if I'm ever faced with something major. I hate to think of the messes I could leave in my wake!  I know. TMI!  But I like to share even the icky sides of my life.

I packed up a bag to take with me that held all the supplies I might need. Thankfully, everything was taken care of at home and I didn't need to clean up. And thank God for Imodium.

My doctor appt for a nerve conduction test in Silverdale was at 11 but since you never know what to expect with that damn bridge, I opted to leave town two hours early.  It was fine on the way but it must have opened at some point in the afternoon as we had to sit a bit in traffic about two miles or so from the bridge.  It's way easier to deal with these delays if you're not alone in the car.  Mary G. was with me.  I figured finding the clinic would be easy peasy as the directions looked pretty straight forward but noooooo...  I got lost!  Ended up back on the freeway going the wrong way but eventually after going to another wrong building, we found the clinic.

Mary had brought sudoku to play with but I didn't really get into the doctor's office until 11:20.  I was nervous because I'd had a nerve test in 2012 in P.A. (it was normal) and it hurt!  I didn't like it.  This time he just shocked me on my left fingers, wrist, elbow.  Was going to do the right too but I convinced him it wasn't necessary and he seemed fine with that. Said he would recommend a carpal tunnel operation on my left wrist.  I had been having numbness but it kind of came and went and I never had pain.  I told him I was seeing an orthopedic doctor tomorrow morning about my hip and if he thought I needed a hip replacement, I might wait on the wrist operation.  I don't know what to expect tomorrow but at least his office is two blocks away instead of an hour and a half.  I hate driving to Silverdale. Traffic is just like Seattle. Too fast, too many of them, too many lanes, too many signs...I didn't like it and am thankful I can buy stuff on Amazon.

After my appt, we decided to try and find Walmart in Poulsbo. It wasn't a walk in the park because neither of us go into that area much but we eventually found it. Then I needed help finding the exit to get back to PT.

Had a voicemail from my regular doctor who I was scheduled to see Wed. morning and she cancelled my appt and wants to do it virtually. Because of covid she said. Fine with me. What I was going in for (followup on an infected sore) is fine and I didn't feel I needed to go in anyhow so I emailed her and told her I'd see her at my regular appt on Sept. 10th.

We stopped at QFC to buy a couple items. I picked up two loaves of healthy bread. Both were on sale but I noticed that if I'm going to switch to healthy breads, it's going to cost me a hell of a lot more.  I may have to rethink this whole health kick I'm on.  And on that note....I have a blackberry cobbler in the oven right now.  I needed it.

I fixed up a big ole bowl of Chinese coleslaw and shared one container with my neighbor. She loved it. I knew she would so I typed her up the recipe from my cookbook.  It is sooooo good. Recipe below:

Chinese Cole Slaw

Mix the following:

1 bag cabbage/carrot mix, shredded; OR 4 C. shredded cabbage;  OR broccoli coleslaw mix

3 green onions ,chopped

Chicken Top Raman  noodle mix (cooked)  (set the spice packet aside) Let noodles cool a bit

2 Tablespoons sesame seeds

Melt 2 Tablespoons butter in skillet and stir in ¼ C. brown sugar and 1 C. chopped walnuts OR silvered almonds. Cook over medium heat until nuts are well coated. Let cool.

In a small bowl: combine season packet from Raman, 3 Tablespoons rice vinegar or white vinegar, 2 Tablespoons sugar, ½ tsp. white pepper, ¼ C. oil.  Pour slowly over cabbage mixture. Stir in brown sugar/nuts mixture.

Don't have any new pictures today but I did come across some truck photos... the first one I drove (as a teen) and the last truck I owned before getting my nicer cars.  A 1947 International and a 1991 Ford Ranger.  The old truck had a OOGAAA!  horn.  Loved that. It also had a starter button on the floor and a choke you had to pull out just so.  The Ford truck died in a freak accident.
