Last Week of September

It's about 4 pm and as usual, I'm in my slump period. Need a nap.  I think I transferred to my recliner at either 3 or 5 a.m.  It's become such a habit, I suppose it could be classified as sleepwalking. Anyhow, I woke up at 6 and was still tired so I went back to bed for another hour. And had my usual morning nightmares.  So many obstacles in my dreams. Weird obstacles. Like checking out of Safeway using the self-check out lane and having all my food go down the roller too fast and the people in front of me took it home.  Other obstacles too but they're too goofy to even discuss.

I had a light breakfast, surfed the net, and then got to work on this old quilt top that was in the stash of material that Paula Macdonald gave me.  I spent an hour repairing what rips I found and then took a picture downstairs on the table to get an idea of how big it was. 50x95 I believe.

I don't really know how I'm going to finish this quilt as my sewing expertise isn't this high and I know it would look like shit when I got done adding batting and backing and the trim around. I did look at Youtube videos but could only find ones on how to bind rounded edges.  I don't know what I'm going to do with this but it's too pretty not to do something.  Maybe I should see if Paula wants it back. Could be she didn't know it was in there.

I picked up Mary G at noon today as Jo Lammers wanted to get together before Mary left for AZ. (day after tomorrow). Polly Rogers joined us too. I was feeling a tad queasy (IBS I suspect) so I just had a rootbeer.  I didn't realize until we were leaving that I knew most of the guys at the table next to us. Les Walden had already left but I got a picture of Dick Short, (not sure I know him), Frank Fletcher, Les Smith, and Don Wilson.  Dennis Lindsey was there for a while too.

We came back to my apartment so Mary could do some paperwork on my laptop. I worked in the sewing room piecing crumb quilt pieces together.  Decided the arrangement of my sewing table and cutting table needed to be switched because I wasn't able to sit at the cutting table to work and I really need to sit.  I moved things around quickly and took down my birthday balloons hanging outside my door so I could put them in the corner of my bedroom. I also took a picture of the apartment from my front door. I think it looks roomier since I gave Catie my oven and moved the microwave and switched that table sideways.

I finished watching the 7 episodes of Mare of Easttown on HBO last night. It was super good and I love surprise endings.  Tonight I'll look around and see what else HBO might offer that would interest me.

Catie and her boyfriend came over yesterday and she helped me with various things on my to-do list for the computer and my cellphone. She gave me a terrific jigsaw puzzle and 3 cards she made herself. Really cute.

Mary and I stopped in at the Elks last Friday to see some folks from the class of 1960.

Here's a group shot that Sharon Sofie took. Quick IDs.... Bonnie Bowman (white pants), Gene Johnson, Carolyn Hufford (black top with dog in front of Gene), Neal Hudson in back, Lorna Swanson, Nancy Johnson, Harry Goodrich, Bette Baker, Arlie Blankenship Sally Eldridge (peeking out), Bill Arey, Clifford Olin (I think?) and Sharon Hawkins. A few of the ones I took below:

Bette, Teresa Arey, Madeleine Leishner, Mel's wife, Lorna (head turned)

                                                 Mel Williams and his wife

                                                                            Sharon Meehan

I got the cutest beach glass display for my birthday from my friend, Ann. I put all my beach glass  into a quart jar and I'm going to try and make some pictures like it.

Tomorrow Barbara Shaw drives me to the pain clinic in Silverdale to get a shot in my back. Can't say that I'm looking forward to it either but I have to do something. It's getting out of hand. Barb and Sam Johnson took me to dinner last Friday at the Alcohol Plant in Hadlock. Man, it was good!
Wednesday I drive Mary and Dave to Kingston so they can walk on the ferry and be picked up by their daughter. They'll fly to Yuma the following day.
Mary (daughter) sent me a picture of her friends visiting her new house in Vancouver. They caught the train out of Tacoma and loved it.

And I guess that brings me up to date.
