Last Day of September

For some reason, it felt like Saturday today.  I've managed to stay busy although I've been on my butt most of the time. What else is new?   I just stuck a potato in the oven to bake and think I'll just have a salad with it and call it good. I treated myself to a pizza at Papa Murphy's yesterday. They had large size on sale for $12 and I knew I could get three meals out of it. I ordered Hawaiian with Canadian bacon. I'd been wanting to go there all year and yesterday was finally the day.  Gave a couple pieces to Ron and Cindy down the hall. They aren't on the food package either and I know they appreciate the food gifts.

The daughter of the guy across the hall was here today finishing up cleaning the unit. The door is still open so I went over to look the place over to compare it to mine.  He had more shelves in the bathroom. I don't have any. I think his fridge might be a little larger too and all the kitchen cabinets are higher. I know mine are low because this apt. is set up for a wheel chair person. I don't mind not having doors under the sinks but I sure would like to have cabinets a little higher. I can barely put plates in the dish strainer when I'm washing dishes.  His view looks out on 10th street to that empty lot where the little houses are going to be. Think I'll go take a picture of it now that I think about it.

Here's Earl's view, his kitchen cabinets and my kitchen cabinets. He has 17" between cabinet bottom and counter while I only have 11".  His fridge is 64" high while mine is 61".  But I'll just have to live with it. I did agree to take the apartment that was wheelchair adaptable. Mainly because it was ready to move into while the one she was going to put me in didn't have the carpets yet. I was all ready to drive from PA to PT with my stuff and I wasn't about to chance my apt. not being available once I arrived.

My Cuisinart oven was giving me grief by not cooking toast so I talked my granddaughter into taking it away.  Her kitchen is too little but she thought her friends might be able to use it. The air fryer still worked and I think the roasting part too. You could still cook toast but only one side at a time.  Why the hell companies can't turn out worthwhile products that last is beyond me!  I'm going to study reviews online and buy me a smaller air fryer as I really loved using it.

I think my computer has something goofy going on with it. Screens keep popping up when I'm typing emails or on my blog. I read up on how to check to see if you have malware and I'm going to do that exercise tomorrow.

I played around with computer chores today. Deleted and moved files, read up on how to use drop box, and studied how to use my Echo better.  Learned a lot.  Alexa has a trivia game you can play and you can ask for recipes, jokes, radio stations, and lottery numbers.  You can also have it work as a timer and play your music on whatever music program you use. I have Pandora and now I have Amazon too but I haven't figured out how to access that yet. But I will.

I also made an eye appt with the guy in Hadlock. Just completely dissatisfied with the outfit downtown and wasn't sure how to go about getting my cataracts checked. Joanne Plattner Bennett stopped in to help me with some advice on quilting and my sewing machine and said her husband also had issues with them and he switched to Hadlock and got good results. I can't get in until Nov. 9 but that's okay. They aren't taking patients but are accepting Medicare folks.

I had several go arounds with the manager about my stove not working properly and FINALLY got a new one in here. I thought my problems were solved but apparently not.  The temp. gauge inside does not reflect what I set on the knob on top.  I can live with that if I have to but.... the stove top and the area around the top of the oven door  gets so hot I'm burning myself!   Unacceptable. I'm going to keep a journal on it before I approach again.  Just irritates the hell out of me!

I took Mary and Dave to Kingston yesterday so their daughter could pick them up in Edmonds and take them to SeaTac today. They'll be back in the spring from their home in Yuma.

I had my back injections day before yesterday in Silverdale. Three on each side and IT HURT!  I had relief for the rest of the day but now I'm back to hurting. Sciatica I'm fairly certain and I don't know if the shot was supposed to fix that or not.  I go back on Oct. 12th for three more shots and then go to Poulsbo the next month for two more appts with a bigger needle that is heated and will apparently cauterize nerve endings. They call it radio frequency ablation or some such thing.  Man, I hope it works. At least I can get anesthetic for the Poulsbo appts but I'll need a driver, of course.

So now the post office is going to slow our service again. I'm not totally surprised. They were doing it during the election campaign and got caught at it when tempers were flaring.

My daughter sent me three pictures of Poppy watching Jake eat pumpkin pie. Cracks me up. She finally got to lick the bowl.

I've been watching videos on you tube about sciatica exercises. Only problem is I watch them and then forget them and have to watch again.  I tried doing one with a piece of stretch elastic where you pull your leg up in the air. I had to quit because I almost gave myself a cramp in my inside upper thigh. Oh lordy!  I hate those more than anything!

Think I'm going to bake up three mini loaves of banana bread later tonight.  Have to do it in stages as I can't be on my feet too long with the sciatica flaring away.  Even pills aren't helping. I may have to visit the reefer store or order some oil online.

Well, I guess I'll go check that baked potato.
