It's 4 pm and I'm sitting here at the laptop while my split pea soup is cooking. I picked up a couple of ham hocks the other day because those peas were calling my name. Sky is looking mighty gray and the tall trees that I see over the roof across the way are blowing pretty steady. That's about the only way I have to judge the weather unless I take the elevator downstairs and walk out to the parking lot. I do that sometimes too.
Not much to speak of on my calendar so far. Eye appt in Hadlock on the 9th and a quick trip to the dentist on the 18th to see if my on and off again achiness is a bad tooth or another sinus issue. I won't bore you with the long sad story of my attempts to see a doctor. It irritates me the more I think about it. I did go get a covid test (doctors office wouldn't see me without it) but even with that, I had to jump through ridiculous hoops. Never could get through to the doctor so I went to express clinic. What a joke. She had me go back to my car and call in. Told me to sit in my car until they were ready for me. After an hour I left. Of course, then my phone rang. But then I wasn't going to bore you, was I? I could go on and on about the Silverdale clinic too but I'm getting angry just typing the words. Things have gotten out of hand in this town as far as medical issues go.
I decided to wash a load of laundry in the late afternoon instead of the early morning so I'll have to go down there in a bit and throw them in the dryer. Hallway used to be super warm but I guess the manager has turned off the heat 'cause it's pretty chilly out there. Probably because the maintenance guy is painting the walls yellow. He just painted last year but they must have money on their hands. Still haven't fix the large tv down in the living room and the last I heard, the carpets might arrive next month. We've had carpet lining down all the halls for several months now. Really ugly too.
My sciatica continues to make me a crabby old woman. I'm doing the exercises daily so I can only hope things will improve. I've been busy sewing out here in the living room and am slowly making progress. I've finished several cloth ornaments, an apron, two adult bibs, half a dozen pot holders, and have a dozen Xmas runners to make. I've got them all cut out along with the batting so I plan on doing one or two a day. My bin of scraps awaits me too so I'll work on crumb quilt squares now and again just to try and stay on top of the mess.
Once I get the runners sewn, I'll put the machine back in the bedroom and haul out my large box of rocks. Might even set up a jigsaw puzzle too. I'm really excited about getting back into genealogy since I've been watching the youtube videos giving so many tips on how to maneuver the various websites. I'm especially anxious for April 22 with the 1950 census is released. Am I repeating myself? Probably.
Barb Shaw told me about the 17 book series by Louise Penny so I bought the first two at thriftbooks.com but will try to get the rest at the library. I saw her and Hillary on CBS Sunday Show and Barb bought that book as she was 32nd in line at the library.
I finished my Story Worth book and had ten copies printed at Coho Printing out by the Elks Club. I'll use them for Xmas presents.
Below are the halloween outfits that Andy and Mary & Jake had this year. Mary's just cracks me up!and here's the latest of Poppy looking for a snack in the pantry.
Dana, Lill, and I are driving to Vancouver for Thanksgiving later this month. Looking forward to seeing their house, neighborhood, Jake, and Poppy. Can't think of much else to chat about now. Each day pretty much mirrors another.
