It's 9:50 a.m. and I just got back from picking up my prescription and using the rest of my gift card at Safeway to stock up on groceries. I really dislike going to the store anymore. Between the annoying masks and the high prices, it's just not a fun errand.
I do like getting it over and done with and early mornings are the best time to zip in and zip out. I've got two or three different recipes to make this week so I had to buy a few things off my regular list. You do get to the point, however, where same-o, same-o is just not cutting it. Doesn't help any that I'm not keen on cooking but part of the reason for that is the small kitchen I'm dealing with. But that's okay. I'll adapt.
I'm going to make some ginger cookies today (or tomorrow) so I went ahead and bought that bottle of molasses that I passed on last time because the cost pissed me off. haha This is a recipe in the old Betty Crocker cookbook that I've had since I was a kid but for some reason, I never made this recipe. I got some for Xmas last month and they were WONDERFUL! I knew I was going to make them sooner or later. These particular cookies are frosted and I do like a frosted cookie! This week I'll also make two recipes I haven't done for a while -- tuna mac, taco pie, and salmon loaf.
Ran into the apartment manager as I was going out to my car and she reminded me that it's time for my annual review to assess my new rent charge. I knew it was coming and I'll be glad to get that behind me. I watched both football games yesterday. Was disappointed the 49ers didn't win so now I guess I'll root for the Bengals.
Got a letter from my half sister back east and she told me two of her nephews had died of an overdose. Both very young. Sad world we live in today.
I was kind of surprised this morning as I shopped the aisles of Safeway that my legs and back were pain free. No limping along, no problem getting back to my car. Puzzling as that so seldom happens but I'll appreciate it while it's happening. It does elevate your mood when you can move without hurting and I don't take it for granted. What makes it even more puzzling is that I was really bothered all night long in bed with feet neuropathy. My toes weren't cold but were definitely numb and I transferred to my chair twice during the night. Once because of the feet discomfort and once because I was choking and coughing my fool head off. I suspect it's sinuses again so tonight I'm hooking up the humidifier to see if it will help. I've also got to try and sleep more upright but it's so hard.
You do have a tendency to worry that it's covid when you're coughing and your chest hurts. Most of the time it kind of comes and goes so I'm assuming it's your run of the mill congestion. I'm certainly not going to waste my time trying to see a doctor. My last runaround with that was something I decided I wasn't putting myself through again unless I really really felt death was near. Problem is, I usually always feel I'm near death. haha
Today I'm going to work on my green quilt. I want to add various small squares all around the border. Don't want it too big, though, as I just don't have the space. My jigsaw puzzle is set up too but man, is it a tough one. Shows people shopping at Costco. I laid in bed last night rethinking (again!) about all the problems I'm continuing to have with my other blog. I keep going back to the LDS website but darned if I can edit the tree. No matter what I try and how many help articles I read, I can't get the damn site to work! And the youtube videos haven't been much help either. I am going to search again on Youtube and see if I've missed something but I've also decided I'm not going to worry about filling out a tree. It's too tedious and hard on my eyes. I'm more interested in the history and life stories (and photos) of my various ancestors. And not exactly the really far back ones either.
I will keep plugging along on the blog as I want my records to be saved in a place I can access them (and that others can access). I'll continue to experiment with how to give each person a page or each family group a page so that I can get back to them again when I want to edit. I'm sure it will all fall in place the longer I stick with it. I did start a new tree on 'My Heritage' and I may or may not continue to fill that out as I go along. I will use all the websites I know about to dig and search for the various facts I want to know.
Meanwhile, I noticed we got a new tenant yesterday so all the apartments on this wing of the floor are now filled. I think there are one or two vacant places on the first floor, though.
Well, I guess I'll get busy cutting out squares now. Here's three old pictures I saw on Facebook yesterday from the Jefferson County Historical Society.
