Sunday Afternoon

I had another crummy night of sleep.  Toe & foot cramps, dry mouth, nightmares, and bouts of waking up and not being able to go back to sleep. Hate that!  And it seems to be happening a whole lot more these days. I was kind of dragging all morning but now that the afternoon is upon me, I think I'm in a better frame of mind. Probably helped to a great degree by the neighbor bringing me a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting.

I think I'm also relieved that the sewing project I told myself to work on is over. It's over because it turned out looking like crap and I threw it in the trash.  It was another face mask I wanted to try but I knew the whole time I was working on it that I was probably doing it wrong. And I was right.  On to other things. I am going to make another mask or two but next time I'll make sure the directions are well understood and easy to do.

I did up the dishes, took out the trash, returned two audio books to the library, picked up my mail, did the crossword puzzle online (it was too hard) and took out a piece of fish for dinner tonight.  I'm never really too enthused about fixing fish for dinner but I sure do like ordering it in a restaurant.

Yesterday I went over to tour those little houses across the street that will be rented real cheap to the homeless. They have a community bathroom and kitchen.  I donated three quilts.

Barbara Shaw came by to lend me this book I've been wanting to read-- State of Terror by Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton. I started it last night but I knew I would nod off real quick -- and I did! I'll try again today.

My daughter, Mary, called while in her car this morning. She came up from Vancouver super early to take her dad to the Overlake Hospital to visit his wife.  Granddaughter Catie is going to bring him back to PT so Mary could head right back home.  She works two days this week at Jake's school, and Wednesday she'll be subbing in his class. She's both excited and nervous.

Met my new neighbor this morning. His name is Steve and he's moving in on the 26th from San Juan Commons.  Don't know his last name yet/ Said he used to have a home out by North Beach on Jackman.

Mary has Jake signed up for basketball, soccer, and football so he'll be keeping busy.  I watched a pretty good movie on Amazon Prime last night - The Tender Bar with Ben Affleck.

And that's about all the boring stuff I have for today. Gonna take a short nap and get busy on genealogy. Just knowing I have it back on my  activities list cheers me up.
