SUNDAY MORNING

Just finished a cup of coffee but I think I'm going to pour a second as I sit here typing away. I've got Valerie Bertinelli on the tv cooking and discussing her life. I usually put her on right after The Sunday Show on CBS. I don't know why I get up early each Sunday morning to watch the Sunday Show but it seems to have become a habit. Most of the time I enjoy the segments but there are days when none of their stories interest me much. They had Woody Harrelson on today and that was good.

Was happy to see there was no snow this morning especially since the weather people seemed agog with the news that we were going to be bombarded. Of course it can still happen (and probably will) but that's okay. If I don't have to be anywhere, I don't really care if it snows. I'm not a fan of the white stuff, however. It's pretty but that's about it.

I will finish a jigsaw puzzle I've got going today. It's only 350 pcs but was a little harder than I thought it would be. It's half done and I just might get out a 750 pc next. I'm kind of in the mood. I did a little sewing yesterday morning and will put in at least an hour on my ongoing project today. A quilt. Not too big, though. I made a larger one recently and have it on my bed. Ended up tying it as I didh't want a lot of puckers and tying it seems to alleviate that problem.

Valerie just fixed crab. Man! Did she make it look easy and tasty.  But I doubt I'll ever fix it. Too much trouble and probably too expensive. I got two food shipments this week. Normally on Thursdays I get 4 tv dinners (from Trader Joes), some kind of bread, some kind of fruit, and milk. This week the bread was a big ole loaf of sourdough. Yum. Uusally it's wheat english muffins or bagels or some other bread that doesn't appeal to me that much. The fruit was a bag of pears. I ended up giving those to two people. The once-a-month dely came the same day this time. It had a pound of cheese, half gallon of milk, beans, spaghetti, and a large supply of canned goods. Always fun to see what arrives. There was a covid testing kit in this supply and at Christmas they gave you a bunch of gifts. So fun.

My tv watching has been devoted to HBO this week. I signed up for a month or two as I wanted to see "The Last of Us" and "White Lotus". Loved both of them!  Now I'm watching "The Gilded Age" and "Succession". I decided to rent 'The Fabelmens' last night too as the price was down to $6 and I wanted to see at least one or two movies that have been nominated for Oscars.  The Oscars will show on March 12 and I'm hoping to see at least one or two more films. I'll have to see what is available to rent at a cheap price.

So far I've watched The Banshees of Inisherin. It was excellent. The Fabelmans, however, was totally boring. Which surprised me since Steven Spielberg helped write it as well as directed it.  I made a list of the movies that have been nominated and then went to IMDB to read up on them to see what might interest me. I don't usually watch foreign films but there were three listed that I thought I might look at -- EO, Close, and The Quiet Girl.

Other films I hope to see include Aftersun, Living, To Leslie, The Whale, and Causeway. I'll check those out today to see if any can be rented. Usually more show up after the Oscars are done and over with.

This Tuesday I'll have a video doctor appt with some PA at my local clinic. Not sure what that is supposed to accomplish but oh well, I knew I was going to be jumping through hoops to get the back surgery I need. I'll go to the hospital for blood work and an EKG and then I think I go to Silverdale for another visit to the surgeon. Then I go back for the surgery and will stay three days in the hospital. Not sure how long a wait I will have but I will definitely be glad when this is behind me. I expect I'll be good and sore and have to go to physical therapy but I'm prepared.

I've got 8 of my books set aside for those folks who wanted to pick up later and then three more to sell whenever. I'm sure I'll be able to sell them once I advertise they're here.

Pictures for today.....

I cut this one blue striped quilt in half to make two smaller ones. This lap quilt still has to be sewn with a backing.
This was the other half of the striped quilt. I made it into a wall hanging and like it much better than the first one.
A friend in Port Angeles sent me this 1952 Leader photo. It has two of my cousins in it--Arlie and Lee.
My brother, Les, came by with his dog Max. So cute.
Mary came up from Vancouver to help her dad move into Avamere next door.

This was something my son-in-law, Andy, posted on his Facebook page. I thought it was hilarious.
